It's almost impossible to choose, because i love them all for different reasons. I don't think i can be objective about just the musical quality. because each album came at a different point in my life, so i have different memories and interpretations of each.

My Favorite Madonna album is American Life, but i don't think that it is musically the best, i Love it because it helped me through a difficult part of my life.

If i try to be objective about the musical quality purely, then i Would say that Ray Of Light is the most impressive musically...

But when it comes to dancing drunk on a sunday morning, the best is her older stuff, The Immaculate Collection.

Also it needs to be said that Madonna came around the perfect time for her craft, because she is an entertainer and performer much more than she is a musician, and she came out right when MTV began. So her videos also made her who she is, being able to dance and create amazing videos is why she is so successful. if people just had her records and never saw her videos and performances, she would not be successful.

i can't believe you have Ray of Light so low, but your 2 favorite albums are Music and American Life...

To me, i've always thought of Ray of Light, Music, and American Life as a Trilogy, because they all have such a similar sound. I consider all three of those albums as part of an ERA, and it's definitely my favorite era.

the same way i think Erotica and Bedtime Stories were connected, because they had such similar styles. they seemed like a double disk album, just separated by time. and i loved how at the end of Bedtime Stories, the final track, Bedtime Story was giving a hint to the new electronic style madonna wanted to move into. Bedtime Story sounded nothing like anything she did before, but it did give a huge clue to the new progressive electronic madonna to come, the end of the r'n'b era madonna of the 90s.

Speaking of underrated, this is a song i think is so beautiful and honest, a song she's never performed live, but is my favorite song from the album...and one of my favorite madonna songs ever...

I think it's down to my music taste, I get why ROL is her most critically acclaimed and most popular because it appeals to not just pop lovers but I would personally feel more drawn to listen to one of her other albums like Music (which I think has no flaws) :shrug:
