Er....Is there not a simple solution to this which seems to have escaped model?
Maybe don't look at Instagram?
Livia

Yes... and knock it off with the selfies.
I wonder how many were the taken-from-high-up-pouty ones. I'm guessing they all were.

Err... I'm not sure if you've even read the story but that's pretty much what it says.
“A 15 year old girl that calorie restricts and excessively exercises is not goals. Anyone addicted to social media fame like I once was, is not in a conscious state,” she wrote on the above photo.
“…Stomach sucked in, strategic pose, pushed up boobs,” O’Neill wrote. “I just want younger girls to know this isn’t candid life, or cool or inspirational. It’s contrived perfection made to get attention.”
“What is the obsession with trying to look older, sexier?” she wrote.
Good on her.

At least she's now woken up to how false this social media "popularity" is.
It reminds me of the people who are obsessed with having as many Facebook "friends" as possible because they think having thousands makes them look more popular or something, when in reality they're not close to the vast majority of them (and likely don't even know most of them).

A minor with over 2000 selfies on Instagram. Maybe you should be chastising her parents, people on here are merely reacting to her own self-promotion and her parents are presumably okay with that.

I've watched the vid and she's right ... most do try their best to show a distorted reality on social media. 'having a snuggly duvet day' usally means I had a skinful and spent most of the night with my head down the bog.
Pictures can't be uploaded without the correct filter and cropping, this is the social media generation becoming disillusioned with social media and it's limitations.

My parents had absolutely no idea what I was doing from the age of about 13 onwards. Literally, none. Should someone have been chastising them? Probably... I am pretty sure that it wasn't my fault, though, and likewise, it isn't any teenager's fault if they find themselves caught up in stupid situations. Whether they have perfect parents or not.
If a child finds themselves living a lifestyle that is depressing, stressful or upsetting - for ANY reason - then they first and foremost deserve support and understanding from adults. Or at the very least, not to be judged or ridiculed By supposed adults.

Hey, if her parents can't be arsed to keep an eye on her laptop, then please don't tick me off for not wringing my hands hard enough when it all goes tits up for her.
Kizzy

It hasn't gone tits up for her, far from it she was very successful.
There's nothing wrong with what she's said or how she's said it, and it's not a parental issue...
She herself has realised that this false reality she created is not for her, and she has vocalised this.
I'm guessing there will be plenty more who feel the same pressure to be perfect.

As ever, it's not about "not wringing your hands", it's about having the decorum to at least not start shaking your fist or rolling your eyes. At children.

This topic is up for discussion because she put it in the public domain. If she's indeed a child, then her parents should be more concerned than I. But thanks for the ticking off. Again.

Wellcamm, Livya San.
I do happen to believe that, as an adult, I have a responsibility to look out for teens and children *especially* if their own parents seem to have let it slide somewhere. It's not something I make a crusade of, but I'll throw in my two cents to that effect where appropriate . Kids can be idiots and also complete arseholes but that usually means they need a hand up, not shoved back down. You might disagree but that's only because you're meaner thn' me.

I am probably meaner than you. That said, I have a niece not much younger than this girl and the idea that she'd have two thousand pictures of herself on Instagram is a ridiculous one.

Is your niece a model though? The girl this thread is about is a model, hence why she had so many photos of herself, it's how she made her money, her career. I think the fact she's saying "this is not the real me" is a good thing, she doesn't want the girls that follow her to think that this fake non-achievable beauty is what all girls should look like 24/7

By telling young girls to love themselves a little more?
I've never seen so many teenagers with such little self-esteem and confidence, thinking that there is a "perfect" body type. I am all for anyone who tries to tell them otherwise.

No, I am all for boosting people's self esteem, young, female, or anyone else.
But she is moaning about being fed up with it all, saying she is deleting her account, not only does she not do that she then advertises the fact that she is now doing a blog

The thing is though, as a model she always has to look her best, it's her beauty that gains her followers and gets her modelling jobs. She's putting herself out there in a video where she's not looking her best, where she's sobbing, wearing minimal/no make-up and not dressed up in fancy clothes (that if she were to wear, would get money for the promo). I don't see how this benefits her in any way, so I don't know why she would do it for attention.

Yes overlooking (or mocking) the mental health and pressures placed on teens is a great idea and makes for a wonderful, caring society...
her so-called pressures and mental health problems are all stemming from her own vanity and narcissism. how can anyone have sympathy for that? not to mention that her social media career was all about perpetuating those societal pressures to other girls and she was profiting from it the whole time.
...wow, that's the first time I've seen this and don't know who she is or what has led up to this but that's extremely heartfelt..I have sons and they don't really do social media but I've heard some really grim stuff from friends who have daughters...my niece used to do modelling and some movie work and I know that she had some bad stuff said as well on things like Facebook, although as a balance to that, she had some very lovely and supportive stuff as well...
..I don't think this is just a 'teenage' thing though, people can be whoever/whatever they want to be online and sadly, too many choose to be people who have no thought for others or their lives..it's more about the 'impact' and being noticed... I agree with her, being themselves/whatever themselves is and not looking for that impact is the only way I think, that they can ever be happy with who they are and begin to understand and like themselves..
