Depressing.
Christmas is for some
Seems like he's got a pretty good thing going on dossing around up there
Christmas is for some
Of course it is but then so is many other holidays/celebrations for some.
Doesn't mean the rest of us need to be forced to feel the same.

No but they have had two years of cutesy ads, time for a change?

I disagree tbh, we have enough depressing ads on tv as it is without them turning the Christmas ads the same way.

I think it's right to highlight the fact that Christmas is miserable for some, and that a small gesture is all that's needed to make someone happy.

. You put it better than I could Ruby
I don't disagree that awareness should be raised I just don't think it should be on a Christmas ad from a big store like JL that's all

Had me crying like a baba, lovely message behind it all as well.

send the Old Folks up there
I love the advert, what a sweet and giving portrayed child. The advert is of course about money just like the Coca Cola ads are, but aren't they all. But it also has thought and a message put into it. Christmas is a happy and sad time of year, we should embrace it if we want to but not forget those in need and who are lonely also. I think the advert embraces that quite well.

What the hell is he doing on the moon? If that little girl really cared she'd be talking to Nasa and arranging a rescue mission, not giving him a telescope so he could see what he was missing back home :conf:

I might be reading too much into it, but for some elderly they may as well be on the moon for all the attention their families give them..i.e isolated. And if Arista has his way they will actually be on the moon :D:

The advert is raising awareness for Age UK (charity for lonely elders) with the tagline "show someone they're loved this Christmas" so yeah this is pretty much obvious.

Yeah not really liking it (although idc for the JL Xmas ads in general)
...I guess that it had a lot to live up to with the hype etc.../just taking it in it's own right though and not comparing it to the previous ones, I like it....obviously this one is focusing on the elderly but the general focus on those who are alone at Christmas, is a good one and children are great at giving those thoughts and wanting to make some gesture if they can ...
...but yes, a general.....mind you, he's probably just stepped out from his moon party to the smoking area and isn't alone at all, but just conning those humans...
Glenn.

I think its very realistic to highlight that some people are lonely at Christmas, It is a bit more punchy than previous ads and make us think of unpalatable truths
