Firefighters tackling blaze at furniture store in central Leeds
Firefighters are currently tackling a large fire at a furniture store close to Kirkgate market in Leeds city centre.
Six fire engines are involved in bringing the blaze at Hills Furnishing under control.
The A61 has been closed between York Street and Harper Street.

That building has been derelict for around 15yrs... I just hope it doesn't spread to surrounding businesses :(

traversity it has been empty for so long if it has - maybe this will force regeneration of the area now but why does it take something like this for it to get going ?

I don't know it's the only part of the city that hasn't been transformed, hopefully now it will be.
