View Full Version : Police murder boy
Two Lousiana police officers have been charged with murder after a six-year old autistic boy was shot dead in his father's car.
It happened during a chase in the town of Marksville on Tuesday night.
Jeremy Mardis was apparently hit by five bullets in the head and chest and his father, Chris Few, was wounded in the incident.
He is still being treated in hospital.
Louisiana Police say officers Derek Stafford and Norris Greenhouse Jr face charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
Two other officers involved in the shooting have not yet been charged. All four are on administrative leave.
State police chief Colonel Mike Edmonson said: "Jeremy Mardis, six years old; he didn't deserve to die like that.
He went on: "We took some of the body cam footage. I'm not gonna talk about it, but I'm gonna tell you this - it is the most disturbing thing I've seen and I will leave it at that."
Officials have said police were chasing Mr Few to serve him a warrant but it is not clear why they opened fire. According to reports, he was not armed.
Police say Jeremy, who was strapped into the front seat of his father’s car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement to WAFB-TV, his grandmother Samantha Few said he was diagnosed with autism at the age of two.
She described Jeremy as "a special gift from God", adding: "He was always smiling, always happy. He loved everyone he met and they loved him.
"He didn’t deserve what happened. He wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

And the father was a bit reckless too,who would try to outrun police with a 6 year old in tow.

Disgraceful, just another example of fatal incompetence from the US police. It's a white kid that's been killed though so those police officers are definitely going to face justice.
Guns should only be used if an officer is faced with a dangerous situation, there's no justification to open fire on a runner and everyone in their vicinity.
They should have there life taken from them in the most painful and long lasting way

Punish murder with more murder, that's logical.
They deserve to be murdered tho. The boy didn't.

I would hazard a guess that child murderers - let alone former policemen - aren't exactly going to get an easy ride in prison... quite literally.

Lol, I love it when people act like Prison is easy, it's like they've got a big neon sign above their head saying 'This person doesn't know what they are talking about.'
You would fall to pieces in prison, pretty much anyone who thinks it would be a walk in the park would not cope with it.

That might be the case if the kid was black (They'd probably still be employed tbh) but he's white so they'll go to prison for it.

I didn't call you thick, I said that you had no knowledge of advertising and marketing which you don't. Saying that you wouldn't be able to cope in prison isn't an insult, you think that prison is a Holiday Camp, that alone is enough for anyone to tell that you wouldn't cope with being incarcerated because you don't have a realistic idea of what it's like.
But please, keep insulting me, keep putting words in my mouth it just shows that you're a sore loser that can't cope with losing an argument so you have to resort to bringing up the fact that I'm a mod EVERY time.
As for the bolded line, you are on what's known as a forum, it's a place where people discuss their opinions with others, questioning people's points of view is a part of that.
...although the police officers involved were obviously not conducting the issuing with a warrant properly and were very much at fault here and responsible for his death..I think though that they weren't the only fault because he was in the front of the car at 6yrs old and not in a booster seat even and his father was driving at some speed with his son in obvious danger in doing what he was doing...
..I think that there is lots to come out in this case from the car cam....

The gravity of any offence is compounded when the perpetrator is in a position of public service and authority.
Rogue cops are paid out of public taxes. They are trained and taught markmanship and how to handle weapons out of public taxes, and when they take an oath to 'Protect and Serve' it is that very same tax-paying public who they are vowing to protect and serve.
I do not know the exact circumstances of this incident, but if it transpires that the cops ae culpable, then they SHOULD get the death sentence - in my opinion - because not only wilfully took an INNOCENT child's life, but they did so as armed, serving policemen.
Nor should it matter whether the child was white or black - this is not about race, but about arrogant killers in uniform who think that because they are supposed to serve the law, they are above it.
A message needs to be firmly sent to other rogue cops, that they think wrongly.
...I think that if these two officers get a prison term and it seems highly likely that could happen as the State Police Chief has already stated.."We took some of the body cam footage. I'm not gonna talk about it, but I'm gonna tell you this - it is the most disturbing thing I've seen and I will leave it at that."...then for two police officers whose methods appear wreckless and questionable and who have killed a child ..their time their will be extremely grim indeed...

..they didn't though Kirk, there was no intention to kill so at the most, they can only be tried for second degree murder, which would never have a death sentence...I don't agree with death sentencing anyway, but...
..we don't know anything about the father's possible negligence either and there seems to have been a whole chain of faults here and culminating in his death...

This is so sad. What was the father thinking, not stopping the car? And what possible reason would the police have for opening fire if he was unarmed? And surely they'd have seen the child if they're trained gunmen? Staggering. I think there's probably a lot of information we don't know yet. None of this makes any sense.
given the accuracy of where the child was shot repeatedly, i believe it was wilful. A child's head is a small target from a chasing car.
However, i am sure circumstances will conspire to allow those who shot him off the hook. They will be put into new identities and disappear

Another gun tragedy by trigger happy American cops.
For those who think Jail is cushy, they should read up on American jail life because its nothing like English prison.

....hmmm, I just can't see there not being a prison sentence being given with this if they're found guilty, bitontheslide.../but if it was proved to be wilful with the body cams, then maybe there's been a plea already to pleading guilty of second degree...

I hope they are given the strictest sentence possible or the message will go out that they are justified in these actions, and the incidents will slowly increase.

You forgot to mention the races of the people involved...isn't it all about race when a cop kills someone?
also, why does the father have a different name than the son?
