View Full Version : Croydon/girl punches 87yr old lady on bus...
zdgNzITNIQg
A teenage girl has been caught on CCTV punching an 87-year-old woman in the face on a bus in Croydon.
The woman suffered a black eye after being punched by one of two teenagers who had boarded the Route 166 bus without paying, the Metropolitan Police said.
Most of the passengers left the bus after the girls began arguing with the driver and the elderly victim can be seen on CCTV standing next to the pair before the attack, at around 3.20pm on Friday October 16.
Both girls, described as black and aged between 14 and 18, ran away from the bus in Brighton Road, Coulston.
Another woman passenger came to the aid of the victim, who was taken to St Helier Hospital and discharged later the same day.
Police sergeant Arran Hillier, from the Croydon Safer Transport Team, said: "This was a nasty attack on an elderly woman, who just wanted to get home. I urge anyone who may recognise the suspects to contact the police."

Horrific that this pair of teenagers are so poor that they have not got bus fare. I hope for their sake that they are soon caught so that they can be given their Conditional Discharge plus a couple of hundred pounds each out of the poor box and also assigned a Social Worker each so that as much financial help as possible can be showered upon these poor mites.
The old woman should also be charged with attacking the poor girl's fist with her eye orbit.

It's apart of their appearance so it will be described to people so that they can come forward to The Police and grass them up.

Sarcastic or trying to taking the piss out of members who point out things that they think are racist? Not one person disagreed with the girls colour being mentioned as a description (in a serious manner anyway) doesn't that prove that maybe these people who point out what they see as discrimination might not be as hysterical as you're trying to make them sound?

Gross. Just can't comprehend it at all. If I imagine that was my grandma it actually makes me feel sick with anger. That poor woman. I know it wasn't a massively violent crime but it's something that will likely stick with her now and make her afraid to go out. And if these girls are under 18, they're not going to face much of a punishment. If anything, they're probably bragging that they're "famous on youtube"!

I wasn't taking the piss out of anybody.
I just think that this article proves that sometimes mentioning colour, race or nationality is merely being factual and not always 'racist' or 'xenophobic'.
But, hey - I do not relish more of the bilious backlash my factual comments incited on the other thread, so I'll just bow out - if that's Ok?

It's perfectly fine if you want to bow out but since you've made a point here, I think I should be allowed to respond to that before I bow out also
I can't see how you can compare this article which is simply describing the criminal and your post in the last thread which was basically assuming that most crimes are committed by foreign nationals. Also, the last article made reference to the persons appearance/skin colour too and not a single person in that thread had a problem with that.
Wow that's awful, hope they are caught.

From the footage it looks like there wasn't anyone else on the bus, other than the other woman who helped her afterwards (who also looks older, maybe 50s or 60s). So really no one who could take them on.

I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation from these fine upstanding young women... i'm sure the old woman said something racist, and these obviously respectable young black women were the victims. - Russell Brand
A 14-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm (ABH) after an elderly woman was punched in the face on a bus in south London. Police issued an appeal for information after the 87-year-old was attacked on the 166 bus in Croydon on 16 October.
CCTV footage shows two female suspects, aged between 14 and 18, getting on the bus at Brighton Road, Coulsdon, allegedly without paying. An argument then broke out between the girls and the bus driver, resulting in a majority of the other passengers getting off.
As the elderly victim stood up, one of the suspects punched her in the face before both teenagers ran off. The victim was taken by the London Ambulance Service to St Helier Hospital and discharged later that day after suffering a black eye.
A 14-year-old girl has been taken to a south London police station where she remains in custody. Officers have also identified the second female involved in the incident but she has not been arrested at this time.
Police Sergeant Arran Hillier, from the Croydon Safer Transport Team, said: "This was a nasty attack on an elderly woman, who just wanted to get home

some young people regardless of race, religion or education have no boundaries and no moral compass. They see no harm in using violence against anyone big, small young or old.
The word feral comes to mind, these young people are the fruits of this generation and we deserve everything we get.
No discipline, respect, honour, morality all replaced with a strange outlook tempered with years of violent films, video games, gang culture, violent hardcore music. Add to that a breakdown of the family unit, lone single parent families.
No discipline at home, no discipline at school , a strange "you can't talk to me like that I have rights..etc.. ffs has resulted in a generation of nasty little hoodlums.
Ask yourself one question... If you saw a gang of teenagers beating up another teenager would you intervene ?
Would you....??

I have to disagree with this. I'm probably part of that generation, I grew up listening to bands like Marilyn Manson, I watched violent movies etc, and had friends who grew up in single parent families, and neither myself or any of the people I know would condone what these girls did. Throughout history there will always have been cases of violence so I don't understand how what happened here can be equated to a generational issue, or a whole generation of people (that fall under the categories you've suggested) can be labelled as nasty?

Depends. If you are assuming someone is part of a single parent family on the sole basis that they committed a crime, or that they committed a crime because they are part of a single parent family, then yes.

f you are an African-Caribbean child you are twice as likely as your white British counterpart to grow up in a single-parent household. In fact, the figure is probably higher. An Equality and Human Rights Commission report in 2011 found that as many as 65% of African-Caribbean children are raised by one parent – nearly always the mother.
These children are more likely to leave education early, more likely to end up in prison, more likely to become teenage parents. The list goes on.

I wonder if there are any other contributory factors that lead to these statistics? Rather than it simply being a case of black + single parent family = criminal.

But the question itself is flawed because not all youths do think violence is acceptable. I don't know why it's on the increase, there are probably countless reasons why someone might commit a crime and I certainly don't have all the answers, but I don't think it can be for the factors you gave earlier because of the reasons I mentioned.
I do however think the culture of what it is to be a child has changed since I was at school, with the rise of social media playing a big part, because kids nowadays are more aware of the power of being noticed and I think a lot of anti social behaviour can be atttibuted to this. But that's just one example. I'm not sure if it fits with this specific case.
