Plenty of hetro people have HIV. If people are careless enough to sleep around without taking adequate precautions then they shouldn't be surprised if they catch something.

As for whoever this is, we don't know that he slept around without taking precautions. If I found out my ex lover had an HIV diagnosis, regardless of how safe we played, I'd still feel panicked.

I'm a big fan so I'm relieved if it isn't. I didn't really think it was him, just wondered due to the age, the 'superstar' and the fact that Mathew lost tons of weight for a film role but still looks thinner and gaunt despite saying he's back to normal.

I get what you're saying, and it probably could have that effect, but a part of me also thinks that people need to realise that you don't need to be a 'slag' to catch diseases. A lot of people have unprotected sex as like a one off, thinking "well I'll probably be ok coz I don't do it all the time" and that's also a dangerous attitude to have. So if it was someone who isn't known for being a sleaze it could help curb that sort of thing happening. All of that's just 'in theory' anyway though because I'm against whoever it is being outed by the media regardless lol

At first glance I thought you were outing Cliff Richard as the guy with HIV... then I remembered "womanizer" lol.

Well I can only speak for myself but personally I was against all the publicity surrounding the Cliff Richard issue as well, or any situation where someone has their name dragged through the mud without there being any real evidence. Generally I'm not the kind of person who is interested in anything to do with celebrities anyway so the circus that erupts every time a celebrity MAY have done something just annoys me, especially when there's real news going on elsewhere.
I disagree though that the naming of this celebrity would be in the public's interest as a way of forewarning potential sex partners, because that's not the way we deal with people who have HIV. The only possible reason for doing it in this case, is because he's a celebrity. But I think when it comes to medical issues they should have the same right to privacy as the rest of us. I know it doesn't exactly work out that way and he will probably end up being named regardless, but that's my stance on it anyway.
