Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Same :clap1:, although it's a tad messy having alien 5 in the making too, so you've got the prequel sequel based on the aliens origins and original series sequel too

The Prometheus sequel will probably be released first which will likely set up Alien 5 I expect.

I'm half perched. Huge fan of the whole Alien franchise. But really dissatisfied with Prometheus. It wasn't terrible, just meh, in my opinion. So I'll give this one a chance. Also, I had no idea there was an Alien 5 in the making till I read this thread. That I'm perched for!

I love all the Alien movies, although not too wild about number three. But Prometheus was fantastic and I can't wait for the next one.

I quite liked Prometheus.
James Franco has a part in Alien: Covenant. I can see him playing a Carter Burke type.
James Franco is coming on board “Alien: Covenant,” the sequel to Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus.”
He joins Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, and Guy Pearce — who are reprising their roles from “Prometheus” — along with newcomers Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride.

This looks insane!!
It does however, reveal a little bit too much imo. Hopefully some of the big scenes in the trailer don't lose its intended effect when the movie is actually released.

The official prologue to Alien: Covenant introduces the crew of the mission as they gather for a final meal before entering cryosleep.

Not a good idea. Lots of xenomorphs under the same roof is a recipe for disaster.

I've seen it. After the first act I was gripped by it. I thought the links to the original Alien were quite cleverly done, and some of the twists are shocking.
I thought initially with the final act 'they're not doing that again are they?' but it was exciting. I'm glad I went to see it as some of the reviews weren't too good, and it left me with some food for thought about some themes and references.
