Satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo has unveiled its latest front cover and it contains a strong message to those behind the recent attacks on Paris.
The weekly magazine, which lost 11 members of staff when terrorists forced their way into their offices in January, released its first issue since the attacks across the French capital on Friday.
The latest cover, which is a clear show of defiance, contains the slogan: "They have weapons. ***** them. We have the champagne!"

Must be a great comfort to those who's loved ones were peppered with bullet holes.

Mmmm.
I can understand the angle they're going for, and to them it's a finger up at the terrorists, but i think if i'd lost someone in those attacks i'd be upset at seeing that image.

Me too, Ruby. Although like you, I can see what they were going for.

It's kinda a good idea but it is disrespectful and so soon after what happened.

Maybe that's it, Adam... it's too soon.

Itīs too soon and the bullet holes are too much. If you edit them out and add something else, it becomes more tolerable.
Can see where their coming from but its in bad taste IMO

You usually find black humour in times of great stress, I think it's a coping mechanism.

Yes bad taste

its humour, but I'm not in a place to laugh at it yet, so I can't imagine anyone in France appreciating it.

Yeah, it's not the kind of magazine that is likely to produce something that aims to be respectful, I don't think anyone would expect that from Charlie Hebdo would they? Obviously most people are going to be offended by it, especially those directly affected by the attacks, and although I don't like it personally I think it's needed in a free society.
The magazine is simply representing a proportion of society that use dark humour as a coping strategy. If those people didn't exist then neither would Charlie Hebdo. And why shouldn't they be represented? It's not inciteful, and the fact that it's offensive shouldn't be enough to have it censored.

Too soon I think. Honestly I think they need to tone their newspapers down, they seem to be constantly offending people.
It is in bad taste but then that's what they do. This was their cartoon after the Russian passenger plane was blown up:

The cartoon on the left says 'The Russian air force is intensifying its air strikes' and the one on the right says 'The dangers of Russian low cost flights'. I know its become a symbol of free speech and has been eulogised after the obviously awful attacks in January but as a publication it is pure trash.
