View Full Version : would you call off england v france tonight?
the truth

we are hell bent on making a statement
for an irrelevant friendly match
BUT what worries me most is theve drafted in vast police, special forces and even the sas into London to protect Wembley
BUT wont that mean other parts of the UK are depleted and the attack could happen there?
why not call it off as the Belgians have done thus giving the forces more time to gather intelligence on these people, and get better prepared?
tonights game is just us beating our chests and making a macho public statement, do we really need to make such statements? Id rather we make a private statement and stay low key for a short while until it blows over and we have time to get the ringleaders

I hope for the sake of everyone at the match we are as prepared as we need to be.
But as they are carrying on in France we have to also.

Theres been no threats made and the police aren't aware of any attacks taking place otherwise it wouldn't be going ahead.. the security is only there because of what happened in France.
It should be going ahead.. it's a whole lot more than just a football match tonight.

I suspect that they'd just get extra people in, because there are several places still on high alert.
of course the game should go on as planned. the European championships are being held in France in the summer, it has to be proven that we don't bow down to terrorists and that France is a safe place to be.

I think not, the Belgian game was different given the the links to the terrorists that have been found in Brussels, it's going to be a bad night weather wise so not sure how well attended it will be

I think it will be emotional, just seeing the Wembley Arch in the colours of the French flag is moving enough never mind the French anthem being sung by the crowd

Don't think the weather will make too much difference.. even the most irrelevant England games are well attended so tonight should be a sell out.

Police have cancelled the friendly between Germany and Holland after the stadium in Hanover was evacuated on Tuesday when a suspicious object was found inside.
An announcement by police informed spectators about an hour and a half before kickoff on Tuesday, a statement later said fans should leave “quickly , but should go without panic back home. Please go in small groups back home, it’s better this way.”
An Associated Press reporter was not let into the HDI-Arena about two and a half hours before the kick-off. Fans were also held back. Police spokesperson Stephanie Weiss said a suspicious object was found at the stadium.
Police later opened the doors and fans started coming in, however the stadium was then evacuated and the game called off.

There is the general feeling of waiting for something to happen here but it should - all things safe and sound - be a good match and a moving one.

I wouldn't have but would have needed to be as sure as I could be that security was at full strength.
However this is what these things want to happen, that they disrupt and destroy all we do so giving in to that is possibly worse.

In the event... it was very moving I thought, and sent a bit of a message. Not a bad game, either.

They should have come out with a giant banner of a cartoon of the prophet mohammed. and then shown that youtube video of the life of muhab=mmed that exposes how he was a pedophile before the game. that would have been better.
also put a drawing on the ball of prophet muhammed, so they were kicking mohammeds face all game, that would have been nice.
