It's nearing the end of the year and a few of you have asked about this, so let's get the ball rolling.


ROUND 1

By sending me a PM you may nominate up to 15 users that you would like to see included in the countdown (no reasons yet please). You do not have to nominate 15 but the option is there if you wish to do so.

At the end of the week, I will count up the nominations and the 50 users with the most nominations will qualify. For example, if 41 users have 5 or more nominations then they will qualify, and then the remaining 9 slots will be filled by the first 9 users to reach 4 nominations. If the final position(s) are filled by users nominated in the same set of nominations, then there will be more than 50 users in the countdown.


You may not nominate any of the following because they have withdrawn (but they CAN still vote if they wish):

* You must rank them in order of preference, from 1st to 10th. 10 points go to your 1st place, 1 point goes to your 10th place.
* You MUST provide reasons for your votes. . Please follow the guidelines as given below:

I think we are seeing a shift in this site, and it has been noted and discussed in various threads. It is a shame that there are so many opt outs, but it doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of lovely people left that are going to participate, and that even deserve nominations.

To be fair though, if it's something where you have the option to opt out if you don't want to be in it, then you can't really have a go at people who have decided to take that option. And I don't think my reasons had anything to do with 'forum politics'. I really don't know what the issue is.

Same i have never been in it, it should be no different to any other forum game where members choose themselves whether they want to take part, it's a small percentage of members who have opted out at any rate.

The whole idea of opting out came about because Claymores was being a contrarian dickhead and spat his dummy out. It was only after that that people started opting out... of what? Hearing the nice things people have to say about them? I did this twice a year for four years, I don't think I ever once had a malicious comment PMed to me and if I ever did I certainly didn't include it - no, the reason people opt out is because they view it as a popularity contest (rightly and wrongly, I think) and they've weighed up their ego against the potential for their ego to be hurt and decided they'd rather not put themselves out there and package it under the nice beige reason of "I'm opting out" no questions asked. It's stupid and it's that more than anything else that will kill this off. I really enjoyed running this. It was nice to see people be nice, really, it was nice to read about why everyone liked the people they had chosen to write about and it was nice to compile these montages and have at least two occasions a year where everyone would chill out and not be at each other's throats, particularly a few years ago when people were absolutely horrible to each other all the time.

I hope you choose to carry on with it Ben and I hope that people will reconsider this opting out nonsense, it's a bit of fun at the end of the day!!!

It's really unfair to judge and assume what other peoples reasons for opting out are (never mind calling them stupid lol). Like I said earlier, I'm not trying to spoil it for anyone, I don't think anyone is.

I do hope too this runs as well, it is a hard thing to have to do and Ben has done it really good the last times he has done it, as Zee did before him.
For me, it will be a sad day for tibb if this stopped taking place.
In the main with the chance to say good things about others and people who really have come to like other members,this is a chance to demonstrate that.

As I say I have loved this from joining and long before I even made the final 50 list anytime.
I also appreciate the vast amount of work and time it takes to do it so once again Ben thank you and good luck.

I am someone and others too who are likely seriously thinking about their nominations for when Ben opens the nomination process and in fairness to his considerable efforts on this event.
Everyone needs to know who is opting out so the people we can and want to nominate can be planned..

I hope the noms and voting goes much easier for you Ben.
