My mum was talking to her outside and I came out and my hair was wet from a shower and she said I'd catch flu etc and that usually people bath on Sundays and my mum said I shower twice a day and she said you only need to wash once a week :umm2:

Is that totally disgusting to anyone else?

Washing only once a week sounds a bit extreme, bathing once a week not so much so.
My nana only had her bath on a Sunday..after dinner and before she made the tea.
I suppose it depends on if you work up a sweat or not:shrug:

showing twice a day is not extreme at all. most people shower first thing in the morning, and then they shower after they go to the gym in the afternoon. that is not excessive at all, it's normal.

when I was a kid there was bath night once a week. That was very much the norm in those days and prior to it. I guess it came from the fact that a tank full of hot water was not common or hot water on demand showers, It didn't mean that people weren't clean, they just washed with less water

My mom calls it the "pits, tits, and ass" cleaning... Where you daily just keep the busy parts clean :hehe:

Is showing twice a day extreme? I shower in the morning and then after work and when I don't work I have dance and I use the gym so I'd be a sweaty mess if I only showered once a day tbh

when I was little we had a tin bath we used to get washed in it in front of the fire on a sun even though we also had a proper bath, and im not that old lol these days I bath every day I only occasionally shower as I prefer a bath. I used to work in a factory with loads of young lasses and we would always be going out, one of the girls however only used to wash the day she was going out, so if she went out on a sat she wud wash that day only she wud b stinking by a wed, gross

No, not at all. I wish I had time to shower twice a day but when I come home from work I can't really be bothered to do anything. I have an extra shower if I'm going out, though.

:laugh: When I was a child in the 50ś we only had a bath once a week on Sundays. We didn't have a bathroom so it was a case of hauling the tin bath in front of the fire and boiling kettles. We changed underwear every day, but not top clothes and I can't recall that we or anyone else smelt bad.
In spring/summer it was sometimes even less than that as we used the bath to keep tadpooles in. When that was the case it was a stand up wash all over at the kitchen sink. Bring back memories Kirk?

I love a bath, but I also have a shower after I bath lol which I know is a massive waste of water, but it's not like every day. Most days I have 2 showers though.

I don't know how people like your neighbour can be happy not washing, there's nothing worse than feeling dirty and unclean :conf2:

I think years ago a Sunday bath or one day a week bath was pretty normal but people still washed daily.

Anyway I would feel mockit only bathing/showering once a week.

 Does it half Jenny. Our tin bath was hung on a nail in the covered shelter between coalhouse and outside loo, and it was brought in on 'bathdays' - :nono: No,the rest of you - I said 'Bathdays' NOT 'Birthdays' - and put on the lino in front of the coal fire. It was 'filled' to a depth of about 6" from a succession of pans and kettles which were boiled on two cast iron 'paddles' which swung over the fire.

I'm not ashamed to admit either, that a lot of the time our 'bath' soap was a block of Fairy Household Green soap. (Ugh! though )

Happy Days Jenny - piss pot poor but safe and happy.

Grim.

We don't have a shower in the house we're living in atm (want to move soon) but even then I have at least 4 baths a week. Fair enough if it's just washing your hair once or twice a week but that's a bit gross.

Are you in a shared house Shaun? If so your landlord needs to get with it and install showers - they are a must.

When we are on long sails I won't shower because I get seasick if I stand around in the forward birth where the shower is and when we are going on a lengthy rock climb, we may be gone for three to four days and can't wash during that time. I do take wash wipes with me though.

If he has housemates, they can take it in turns standing in the car park and being hosed down. :hehe:

This is actually true. Too much washing (daily) stimulates the sebacious glands in the scalp causing them to produce even more 'grease'.

..I shower morning and evening, well often more afternoon than evening..when I get home from work...(because I'm often covered in Pritt stick/paint and the like..)...sometimes I think...oooo, nice hot bath but I actually don't have a bath that often because I would probably be tempted to stay in there too long and become a prune....
