He is correct in a lot of what he says - about the oil and in today's 'freedom fighters' being tomorrow's terrorists especially - but I think we have ONE huge common enemy to defeat and that the real time for inquests is when we have defeated and destroyed that enemy.

I agree Kirk but like Putin says, (it could of been another interview because there are lots)
the West are always intent on forming coalitions but when coalitions become divided, that's when we see real problems.
It was interesting what he said about us paying rebel fighters.

I agree with him about the coalitions point as well Red. I am so personally pleased that he has become involved in Syria - whatever his motives.
I see only one common enemy to which all other traditional 'squabbles' become secondary.

Uhmmm? So we can deliberately stop all the billions otherwise being spent on feeding the poor and giving urgent medical attention to the poor and ill? Deviously decrease the surplus poor population by Government stealth?
There - I thought I'd save you a few posts. It must be festive spirit getting the better of me. :joker:

Whenever we see him being interviewed in the West, we see a hard nosed unfriendly looking man but when you watch his interviews, his face softens and so does his voice.

Uh? With respect - your post highlighted nothing, it asked a question. Here it is in its entirety:
"Hmmmm So why are we replacing trident again? "
And as for; 'Doesn't mean its not true' - please tell me you're joking?

yes, It is sick. but after 9/11 there were a lot of women that had a crush on Osama Bin Laden, so it's not surprising. There are also tons of women that marry murderers in US prisons and send them tons of mail and gifts.
It's weird and sick, but it's not shocking or unique.

his "interviews"... you mean the ones he has complete control over? the ones that he has pre approved the questions and has propagandists writing his answers that he memorizes before hand? you mean those "interviews"?
Putin doesn't do any interviews, they are all scripted and he has complete control.
It's not like the US president who takes completely un scripted questions from the press on a regular basis from the White House press corps.

no it's not. you are accusing a lot of people of conspiracy if you believe that, including the BBC and the Guardian, the New York Times, even FOX news... they have all had reporters able to ask unscripted questions directly to the president. even Fox news, do you think FOX news is conspiring with Obama? lol that's just ridiculous.
In Russia, there is no pretence, everyone knows exactly what is going on behind the scenes. There is nothing adhoc in any western leaders interactions with the press.

no they don't. the russians have no idea wtf is going on. because they don't have a free press at all. you are really talking completely nonsense dude.
Did you see the expose on russian "trolls" (thousands of russians paid by Putin to troll the internet news sites comments sections...) if Putin is employing that many people to infiltrate FOREIGN news sites, imagine how free the domestic Russian press is... LOL
wake up dude. you sound ridiculous.

Sorry mate, but I lived in Russia for several years and speak the language fluently. Russian people are well educated and perfectly aware of what is going on.

only lesbians could be attracted to that. he does look a bit like some lesbians i've known... the false, put on, feminine attempt at masculinity... it's very lesbianesque. (not to mention the huge breasts...)

Yes, the ones he has complete control over just like our PM. Before PM question time, Cameron is given a run down on the subject matter he's going to be questioned about so that he can prepare his answers.

Its very clear that western propaganda has us all fearing a new cold war with Russia. Unlike Bitontheslide, I haven't lived in Russia but I'm sure its not as repressed and harsh as the west makes it out to be.

western propaganda? western propaganda created the situation where Putin subjugated the basic rules of Russian democracy by installing a proxy *(medvedev) to circumvent term limits, western propaganda invented the evil hateful anti-gay laws installed by a Putin led government> Western propaganda is responsible for the Russian government covering up and even encouraging Russian athletes to use drugs to win more medals at the olympics? Western Propaganda made Russian jets violate Turkish airspace, not once, not twice, but dozens of times over the past year. Western Propaganda forced Russia to annex land in 2 separate sovereign countries (georgia and ukraine).
Wake up. Russia did those things, not "western propaganda" (aka free media).
Western media didn't do those things, the Russian State did those things!

I am, I don't think this drive to get over there is anything to do with ISIS and is a dupe for us to get over there and defend Turkey.

Yeah it's really not, the time I spent in Russia was certainly different but it wasn't oppressive and both Moscow and St Petersburg were as cultural, impressive and open as any other European capital.

I could give you a whole list of western propaganda about Russia but its there if you want to find it and I doubt you do.
Its clear what you think about Putin from that reply you gave me when you likened me to people who have crushes on mass murders.
Whilst western media is free, its also free to make things up. Press freedom doesn't stop them constantly feeding us an inaccurate representation of reality. Many of headlines I see each day as I pass the news stands isn't only idiotic scaremongering, its outright dishonesty. If you want to learn the truth about Syria and the reasons Britain wants to go in, then you don't watch the national news or read popular press because its nonsense.

I certainly don't believe these further air strikes are about ISIS. Yes, they do want to remove ISIS but they know its almost impossible.
I grabbed this off 'stopwar.org'
We support the Iraqi government in the fight against ISIS.
We don't like ISIS, but ISIS has been supported by Saudi Arabia, whom we do like, and Saudi Arabia is now supporting us in bombing ISIS.
We don't like President Assad in Syria. We support the fight against him, but not ISIS, which is also fighting against him.
We don't like Iran, but Iran supports the Iraqi government against ISIS.
So some of our friends support our enemies and some of our enemies are our friends, and some of our enemies are fighting against our other enemies whom we want to lose, but we don't want our enemies who are fighting our enemies to win.
http://stopwar.org.uk/index.php/news/obama-and-cameron-clear-up-any-confusion-about-why-they-are-bombing-iraq-and-syria
If there is an underlying rationale for the latest drive for war, it is the desire of the British government and military to be seen as a major power player in the region.
