all I can see are two gray pills and someone else said they saw red and blue ones.

It's not an illusion it just depends on your eyes.

If you look at the line in the centre first then look at the pills, you will probably change from seeing grey to blue and red. That's what happened to me the first time and every time I see this now it's always blue and red.
