So take it you'd like to take part?

Sure, but I can't 100% guarantee I'll be active with it everyday. I wasn't in the Halloween countdown. Plus I'm watching TA and SQ too, so that may get in the way. But I'll try to post a review when I can.

Is the remake good?
It's nowhere near as good as the original but it's pretty fun and they give Billy a pretty scary background. Pretty good deaths, too!

Same here. She's my favourite character in the film. Love the actress too.

And the remake sounds good, I might check it out this Christmas. The trailer looks really good. Thank you.

Night 1 -The Grinch

http://horrornews.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Grinch-poster-1-343x500.jpg

In this live-action adaptation of the beloved children's tale by Dr. Seuss, the reclusive green Grinch (Jim Carrey) decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. Reluctantly joined by his hapless dog, Max, the Grinch comes down from his mountaintop home and sneaks into town to swipe everything holiday-related from the Whos. However, the bitter grump finds a hitch in his plans when he encounters the endearing Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen).

The Grinch

8.5/10

One of my favourite Christmas films, love Jim Carrey as The Grinch. The length of the film is perfect, doesn't get boring. Overall it's a fantastic, magical film to watch in the festive season.

Night 2 - Home Alone

https://loftcinema.com/files/2013/11/Home-Alone-1-v3.png

When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother (Catherine O'Hara) makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home.

any reviews on the first 2 films?

Cal.

Black Christmas (1974)

9/10

Honestly one of the creepiest films (in my opinion) ever made. The calls are so disturbing and mystery of it all makes it even more terrifying. There is a lack of brutality in the film and you only see the killer once - and even then he is in the shadows, but it is honestly so suspenseful and creepy and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are some disturbing elements to the film, including the killer imitating to be a cat from a girl's closet to entice her to open the door and eluding to the fact he killed a young girl called Agnes (although it isn't confirmed if they're related but it's inferred he's imitating his mother scolding him for murdering his baby sister). The main character, Jess, is well developed and you really feel for her and become terrified for her when she's the last one around and she sort of knows something bad is happening but can't accept it. Barb is an amazing feature as well - an amazing character whose provides some light relief and her death scene is one of the best aspects of the movie. The only reason the film drops a mark is because it needs tighter pacing - it's an hour and 40 minutes long but some aspects in the middle feel a little unnecessary (Peter's piano class/Jess being pregnant - but I suppose that adds to her character). Oh, and although some people may complain about the ending not actually answering any questions like who the killer actually was or whether Jess actually died (due to her being sedated and the killer leaving the attic - and then the phone ringing as a phone call always signifies a murder) but I think it adds to the ambiguity and charm of it. Overall, an amazing film and probably the best 'murderer in the house making phone calls to a girl downstairs' horror film out there which is why I'm awarding it 9 out of 10.

Home Alone - 9/10

I've seen it many times, it's a good family film which is iconic. The film develops well and has many funny scenes, it's more fun being an unrealistic film. Overall it's a classic Christmas film that never lets down.

Night 4 - The Santa Clause

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/86/The_Santa_Clause.jpg

Divorced dad Scott (Tim Allen) has custody of his son (Eric Lloyd) on Christmas Eve. After he accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit, they are magically transported to the North Pole, where an elf explains that Scott must take Santa's place before the next Christmas arrives. Scott thinks he's dreaming, but over the next several months he gains weight and grows an inexplicably white beard. Maybe that night at the North Pole wasn't a dream after all -- and maybe Scott has a lot of work to do.

Night 4 - Home Alone 2

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/50/Home_Alone_2.jpg

After snarky youth Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) loses track of his father at the airport, he mistakenly gets on a plane headed for New York City -- while the rest of the McCallisters fly to Florida. Now alone in the Big Apple, Kevin cons his way into a room at the Plaza Hotel and begins his usual antics. But when Kevin discovers that the Sticky Bandits (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) are on the loose, he struggles to stop them from robbing an elderly man's toy store just before Christmas.

Night 11 - Love Actually

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51-CU01Fp4L._SX940_.jpg

Nine intertwined stories examine the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all: love. Among the characters explored are David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man tempted by his attractive new secretary.
