it was always gonna be a massive audience after all the media hype. I'm perhaps surprised it was'nt higher.

Morcambe and Wise used to pull in over 20 million.

Extra people watched out of curiosity.

Pity that the extra people that tuned in saw something so anti-climatic.

My thoughts exactly. It was all a little bit too planned. Jade was primed to say what she did and it was all a little to fake

How do you know she was primed? She was called into the Diary room on Thursday and told and asked to explain her self on the 'popadom' incident and she knew it was wrong. From there I believe she knew she knew that if she was up she was going. I don’t believe that the producers staged the male-up between Jade & Shilpa - I honestly believe it was genuine. When Jade was crying in the Dairy Room, I don’t believe that She was told anything from the outside, I just think She was genuine scared of her reaction on the outside and was fully aware of how the comment was going to be perceived. In the diary room on Thursday Jade said 'I don’t want there to be a crowd' and I think she thought there was no crowd outside because they knew she was going - But I don’t think she was actually told. As for the interview - I don’t think she was told what to say, it was clear from her answers. She was clearly in shock of how much on an impact her comment and actions had.

I wonder if that was just the UK audience, if we're talking worldwide audience i would think the amount of people would be much greater.

For those unsure:

Celeb BB: Millions see Jade get the boot

Jade GoodyJADE Goody's eviction from Big Brother drew a hefty audience share last night, with 7.8 million viewers tuning in to watch.

That figure constituted a 38.3% audience share, according to the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board (Barb).

The first half of the show, which showed recent footage from the house, was watched by 7.4 million (a 29.2% audience share).

But fewer people watched Goody evicted last night than the number who tuned in for her eviction in 2002.

Goody, who came fourth that year, was evicted from the Big Brother house during the show's finale, which drew an average of 9.4 million viewers - 49% of the available audience.

A spokeswoman for Big Brother said today that the show would not be releasing figures for the number of votes cast.

Meanwhile Keith Vaz MP welcomed the result of the Big Brother eviction vote.

He said: "I am delighted that the public, by this huge vote, have demonstrated that there is no place in Britain for racist language or behaviour, and that Jade herself realises that her comments were 'disgusting'.

"The only people that don't understand racism appears to be Channel 4. And now that they have heard from the British public we need to hear from them.

"We need to know what steps the regulator will take to give Channel 4 a clearer understanding of these issues."

The number of the MPs that have signed Mr Vaz's Early Day Motion 'Allegations of Racist Behaviour on Big Brother' is now more than 50.

7.4m with a peak of 7.8m! That must be one of the first bb shows which isnt a final to have beaten a launch show. It never goes above launch nights figures unless its a final.
