I was a bit shocked but the people I work with say that's tame to what I'll get over Christmas :(

Retail workers are trained to believe so. This thread is like opening a can of unprofessional worms imo

I'm not allowed on tills yet too young but I'm dreading it because you're stuck there and you have to try and make convo :omgno:

A customer played the race card because she rudely just came into the shop and didn't bother to wait in line and I told her where the queue is nicely and told them I have to serve other people first as they waited.

It's unprofessional if someone argues back at work. Venting afterwards in your own time certainly isn't.

I only make conversations with the awkward hag types. The rest I just scan through and say goodbye too.

Never. This thread confirms it. I'd rather shred paper all day for less.

Obviously, it's only unprofessional if you argue with the customer and tell them they're wrong. I have never done that in my life, I just kept it to myself and spoke about it afterwards to my friend after work.

I need to avoid tills apparently, my main job is putting the clothes back in size order and I hate when you do it and walk away and 10 minutes later they look like a war zone. Also when something falls on the floor and they walk on it or push their trolly over it

LukeB

Yep that answers my question...

It did.

nope, every retailer who talk about their customers(which most retailers do) are not in the wrong.. All that matters is that they are professional at work and give the customers amazing customer service whether it's a complaint or enquires etc.

Haven't had a proper one yet *touch wood* had a woman kick off about carrier bags once (before the charge came in) aside from that it's usually positive, I had a woman the other day who wanted to shake my hand and write a letter to the manager because I provided such good service :hee:
