Channel 5 has today announced that Celebrity Big Brother 2016 will kick off with a live launch at 9.00pm on Tuesday 5th January.

The two-hour opener will be followed by spin-off show Bit On The Side at 11.00pm, when Rylan Clark-Neal will chew over the action with the help of his audience and studio panel.

Bosses are treating fans to two hours of post-launch live feed – at midnight on Channel 5 and 1.00am on 5* – giving us a chance to see raw footage of the housemates’ first night. It was confirmed earlier this week that live streaming will air every weekday throughout the new series.

Wednesday 6th January and Thursday 7th January follow the same schedule, with the highlights show at 9.00pm on C5 and BOTS at 11.00pm – although the latter will air on 5* on the Wednesday due to sport coverage. Both nights have live feed at midnight on 5*.

The first eviction takes place in two shows at 9.00pm and 10.30pm on Friday 8th January on C5.

They are separated by the premiere of Lip Sync Battle UK at 10.00pm. Hosted by ex-Spice Girl and X Factor judge Mel B and rapper Professor Green, it is the broadcaster’s version of the hit US format and its biggest entertainment launch since it acquired Big Brother in 2011.

BOTS follows at 11.05pm, with live feed again at midnight on 5*.

On Monday bosses released the theatrical new Celebrity Big Brother eye logo and teased that the matching house has “gritty undertones” that could conceal surprises for the housemates.

Rumoured participants include I’m A Celebrity’s Lady Colin Campbell, rapper Vanilla Ice, Kourtney Kardashian’s boyfriend Scott Disick and Strictly Come Dancing pro Ola Jordan.

As it's starting on Tuesday 5th January. I'm guessing/hoping the final will be on Friday 29th January, making the series 25 days. According to that changes for 2016 thing they said CBB will be at least 25 days long.

However, the cynic in me says they'll probably have a mid-week final and end the series on Tuesday/Wednesday 2nd/3rd February making the series 29-30 days long. Or even worse, have the final on Friday 5th February making the series 32 days long (the longest ever CBB and a day longer than CBB15) - but I'd rather have that than the mid-week finale tbh.

I'm really excited but at the same time I can't help feeling a rubbish CBB is due after a recent run of good (imo) ones. I just hope CBB17 carries that on. :laugh:

I love the eye so I can't wait to see the titles for it and the description of the new house sounds great so that's a good start anyway. :flutter:
