Small steps
in Saudi Arabia.

Also a man has to walk the women in
to vote

A step in the right direction is still positive I suppose.

Does "walk them in" mean that they actually enter the voting booth and see them vote? Because if so, that sort of just sounds like men with wives get two votes... :hehe:

Though that's the same here I guess if the man has his woman properly trained and on a tight leash :nono:

Yes into the Room

Its Normal for Men to be with any stray women
in Saudi Arabia

1,000 women have stood for election, they had to campaign behind screens, if only we could adopt this for Nigel Farage

Saudi arabica is currently pissed off because of the new shale gas technology america has invented.

**** the middle east.

i know donald trump is only talking about a wall on the mexican border now, but if he wins and gets a second term, maybe he can build a wall around europe and make the arabs pay for it!

more walls, less hate.

I don't care if it makes me a bad person for saying so, but this whole ideology that men are superior to women (in all aspects) is so wrong and disgusting to me. I'm all for respecting other cultures/religion, but a religion/culture that doesnt let women drive or even show their face is just so wrong and backwards to me.

but according to the experts women like it that way! and it's just cultural differences! we must respect other cultures and pretend like they are fundamentally different, right???

we are the oppressors, how dare we judge other cultures, we are colonial bastards!

/s

i wish we were less evolved and could just nuke those bastards.

In the matter of progress, I would rather have the right to vote before the right to drive anyway. This is how change takes place. Maybe women will vote with their men now... But in the long run, if the women in Saudi Arabia want to change their fates, votes from women with independent thought is the way to go.

Very little respect was given to Tyson Fury for his way of life or to a lot of British culture, apparently we only need to respect certain types of culture, I agree though if you travel to the Middle East when in public you are expected to dress appropriately, respect their laws on alcohol and PDA,s and that is fair enough, what you do behind closed doors is your own business.

It's one thing respecting their laws it's a completely different thing to agree with them, but until they are willing to change their laws we have to respect them, try kissing your partner in the street whether they be male or female in Dubai see how you get on.

I will not respect any countries laws that show intolerance towards anyone that's different to themselves.

So women will be able to vote to allow themselves to drive and a multitude of other things now. You don't get anywhere unless you encourage countries that do make changes

umm, no you don't. why do you respect bigotry? why do you think arabs deserve less rights than anyone in Europe or America?

You are saying you respect the rules when it means women have no voice, or gays can be beaten? how can you respect that? just because it's their "tradition"???

that is a very evil way of thinking. Shame on you.

It seems ridiculous to me that one half of the population is treated so much differently from the other half, simply because they lack a penis.

more than half when you include gay men. and even more when you include religious minorities like christians and jews of all genders and sexualities.

So women can vote (so long as the men allow them to and more than likely vote the way they are told to vote) They are still living in the middle ages.

I think this voting system is an absolute sham. A woman can only vote if her husband, brother or farther escort her to the polling station. Lots of husbands, brothers and fathers won't want their women to vote and simply won't escort them which means only the more liberal families will use the female vote.

They have only provided a certain amount of polling stations where women can vote which means many will have to travel great distances to get there.

I don't agree that these women choose this culture and actually I don't believe a lot of the men choose this oppression for their women either. Saudi law is dictated by religion right down to the last detail and men (there have been many) who have tried to speak out against female oppression, risk either being murdered or imprisoned.

When a woman's destiny is dependent on the man’s goodness and generosity we have to accept that many of these women are nothing more than slaves.

can we stop pretending like this isn't happening all over the muslim world. this is not a Saudi problem, this is a Muslim problem.

MUSLIM, the M word, put it in your mouth and chew on it a bit, get used to it, and get used to saying it when we are taking about problems in the arab world...

seriously people, wake up.

Saudi bashing is very in vogue right now but the WEF actually ranks them above Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and quite a few others for gender equality. We can't expect the whole world to be modelled on Western terms and on what we consider is right/wrong. This vote shows that most of the time it is countries who change themselves rather than having that forced upon them

And more over... why do we expect sweeping changes over night that will bring them inline with western culture??? In my country... only women who were land owners were given the vote initially... and then many years after women were given the vote, aboriginals were, It's an evolution towards equality... that frankly still isn't 100% equality as it stands now anyways.

If i said a womans place is at the kitchen sink i would quite rightly be dragged over hot coals in here. This lot are not pro women at all. They are literally cave men still clubbing women over the head and dragging them back to their cave.

Dangerous game letting women vote.I mean look what happened in this country......

We got Thatcher!

Best keep the women to fill their very important role in the home.
Plus if you think it takes women over here a long time to get ready.....Imagine having to put one of those burkha things on?It would take an age.Very impractical for the men who have to drive these women.
No i think Saudi should learn from our mistakes and leave the voting for the men
