Benidorm is a British sitcom written by Derren Litten and produced by Tiger Aspect for ITV. The series features an ensemble cast of holiday makers and staff at the Solana all-inclusive hotel in Benidorm, Spain.

The show first aired on 1 February 2007.

A seven-episode eighth series was commissioned on 6 February 2015 which began airing on 11 January 2016.

A nine-episode ninth series was commissioned in February 2016, which is currently in production.

I was quite disappointed with last nights episode. There is still a hole left in the show from the Garvey's departure.

The new family is okay although the grandad is too similar to Madge, and the little girl is annoying. The writer is really out of touch with what's current, the whole kids acting like Honey Boo Boo was funny maybe 3 or 4 years ago, now it's just annoying if anything.

I think this show is running out of steam. Which is a shame because it's one of my favourite shows on TV. I blame this due to Derren (the creator) writing every episode. It would help if some other writers came in to introduce new characters and shake the show up a bit. The problem is by writing every episode Derren is starting to come around in circles, his new characters are just different renditions of past characters.

We need the Garvey's back, or even the Dykes (they grew on me). I'll see how this series goes as we have some surprise appearances along the way, although last night was a very weak opening.

The grandfather makes me laugh, I found him different to Madge. He's kind of nasty but at the same time really likeable. Where as Madge was more openly rude.

Really looking forward to Pauline returning with Geoff and Noreen.

I much prefer to have the 2 girls back from season 5 instead of Tiger and his friend.

Joyce is great! Glad Mateo is back.

It feels like an odd season as loads have left and we've got random old characters back. I really need the Garvey's back as soon as possible.

Glad Madge is at least returning for a bit.

The last kind of scene was with Joyce reading a letter from that guy who dances and the one she really likes.

Mind you I don't think they ever seem to strike the tone right with Pauline's alcoholism, because in itself it isn't funny but idk if they're trying to make it so or not

Watched this for the first time in a while tonight, good to see some of the old characters still there but they will never be able to capture the humour they achieved in the first few seasons with the Garvey family. It's a lot more superficial now and I think they definitely need a bit of a cast shake up, a lot fell flat for me. I don't approve of the recreation of Madge either, she was too funny and too much of an icon to the show to be able to replicate her with another character (the older gran to the main family), don't think I'll be watching again next week :(

Just watched the last episode, probably the funniest of the series? Loretta, Eddie and Kenneth were back to their best and it seemed a fitting 'end'

I expect it will be back in the future, but there's definitely no series next year cause they're not filming so that can only be a good thing

Just finished rewatching this.

The early series were definitely the best, but I enjoyed the latter seasons too. I think it ended at just the right time thought. Would love to see it return for a special one day.
