I hope this is OK for Kizzy?
[MPs have backed plans that will allow fracking under
national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
The measures introduced by the Government mean fracking
can be carried out 1,200m below national parks,
outstanding natural beauty, world heritage sites,
the Broads and certain groundwater areas.]

Solar power grants for homeowners have been withdrawn that's hardly encouraging is it?

Because the grants have stopped doesn't mean that solar power is unavailable. It's an investment, not sure why I as a taxpayer should be paying to reduce someone else's electricity bill.

Fracking is not only entirely hypocritical towards our commitment to reducing emissions, but it also could result in more sinkholes, gas leaks.. environmental disasters.
I've said before that the government is happy to make profit at the lives of others, and in this case that takes an unfortunate literal truth. This could be catastrophic.

Do you really trust the government to keep their word? Won't do a top-down reorganisation of the NHS they said.. won't privatise the NHS they said... won't try to cut tax credits they said...

Yes I trust them to do more checks,

the earth is more resourceful than these hippy environmentalists give it credit for. they really believe that humans have all the power. humans are tiny ants marching and digging around the earth, and if we go too far then maybe our anthill will collapse, but that is just another learning experience. our anthills have collapsed many times.
If we are going to test out fracking, couldn't be a better place to test it away from population centres.

That's fine but I personally wouldn't trust the conservatives to run a sock drawer let alone properly regulate fracking..

Our resources are depleting, and with every frack we release tons of gas into the atmosphere which we do not even harvest. It's an environmentally incompetent idea especially considering the scientific evidence of climate change.

I buy a commodity from a company offering that commodity. If I can get it cheaper elsewhere, I will.
I'm not sure what you're even trying to say, if I'm honest. This isn't MY fault. Why should I pay for other people to get cheaper electricity?

My point is (until you dragged it off topic talking about your taxes) that the government have not investigated or promoted energy as much as they could have, they removed green subsidies from our energy bills in an attempt to reduce energy bills but not energy company profits they stopped grants to home owners and small businesses yet you say green energy is being utilised and investigated further. I don't know why you think it's your fault!

Why would anyone want to invest in fracking with all the potential environmental problems it brings. Bearing in mind the very low price of oil and gas and the plentiful reserves it makes no sense whatsoever to risk everything to produce even more of the stuff.
Lunacy and greed in equal measure.

Just heard a report on the news about the slashing of feed in tariff rates for homeowners with solar panels by up to 90%, when questioned why the solar industry can't stand on its own without subsidies, the reply was that subsidies for fossil and nuclear fuel have been increased to eye watering levels, while Green Energy subsidies have been reduced the goal posts have been moved yet again for the thousands of homeowners who invested in this as a way of producing greener energy and maybe making profit, I guess it's only big business that is allowed make a profit off the back of subsidies.

I was meaning how it became a grand canyon ... perhaps not appropriate.
I'm not a supporter of fracking, not at all. I don't feel enough is known about the potential consequences, but I would much rather it was trialled in a low population density area than one heavily populated.
