Why I want to lose weight!

I'm sick of being overweight, like i'm not like fat but just overweight a bit.

I honesty hate being this size, it's so depressing and un motivational.

Tonight has made me realise that I want to lose some weight, 2 stone max though.

I saw some stretch marks today and I honesty wanted to die, literally.

So It's starts now, well it started yesterday as I didn't eat that much.

NOTE: I don't eat that much at X Mas, so there's no worry there.

Good look with this but have you thought about how you're going to do it so that you can drop a couple of stone and keep that couple of stone off? If you just cut right back on food with no idea of calorie loss, your weight will either yoyo back and forth or you will just give in eventually.

Even though its only a little weight you want to lose, if you put your body into starvation mode you can knock your metabolism off hilter and that can cause all sorts of weight issues in the future.

A fitbit is fantastic because it shows you calories in versus calories out and works as a great daily guideline. You can decide how much you want to lose and how slowly or quickly you want to lose it and you can join a forum group where you will become an expert in your own body weight. My husband lost 42lbs early this year and looks great and with this little device he found it really easy to keep his weight off without losing more than he wanted to.

Make it a lifestyle change and not a silly binge diet that's doomed to fail in the long run.

..what age are you Will, 14/15/16yrs I think..?...I think it's an age when we all feel so insecure in ourselves and very self conscious, especially of our physical appearance...and as our body goes through changes, things like a bit of excess weight can build as well but it's just a temporary thing...it's always good to eat healthy at any age and also to exercise etc but I think, thinking 'dieting' as such isn't really necessary for you atm and I have to say that I'm not a believer in diets anyway...dieting 'deprives' and it's not good to deprive the body, but just have the more unhealthy stuff as treats and occasionally/small amounts etc...not every day things, if that's what they are now...your weight will find it's comfortable balance anyway, if you're eating healthily and exercising... don't think dieting, think of adding the good/healthy stuff more and the bad/unhealthy stuff a little less, etc../you'll be right...

Good advice there you are a bit young to be dieting Will as your body will change as you mature. Exercise will help you shed pounds without you needing to change your diet too much, if you can incorporate a 30 minute fast walk where you get out of breath into your day you will notice a difference within weeks, not sure if you get the bus to college but if you do you could choose a further away stop to get on and off so you get the walk into your day?

You are too young to diet, everything in moderation and exercise more.

Ah Will good luck :clap1: Remember to stay healthy though. People throw around the word dieting so it might seem like an everyday thing, but it shouldn't be underestimated that changing your body is actually a huge undertaking (which is why quick-fixes are so tempting) but not eating will do your body a lot of harm (especially at your age as others have said). Take up some hobbies like swimming/running, or join a squash club or something, you'll still be able to eat and you'll feel so great for doing it. You might not see huge results straight away (but they will come), and think about the long term, there's no rush, and changing to a generally healthier lifestyle will get you to where you want to be weight wise and also set you up for a much better/healthier future. Good luck

The only way for me to shed the weight is just starve myself. I don't drink so I can't cut out booze.

I can cut out chocolate but that's my only food vice. Oops, and apart from bread. That is a big no-no apparently.

But like the OP, I am sick of buying 38 inch waist jeans.

Normally I am 34 inch waist.

Kizzy

Being a fella you are at an advantage, if you do a bit of weight training and build a bit of muscle mass that will eat your calories for you and your metabolic rate will increase, you'll look leaner and fitter :)
Don't overdo it though.

Yeah, is 40 pounds a lot?

no its not a lot.

you can lose 10 pounds a month easy if you diet and work out. so only 4 months. depends how much you gain from christmas dinner and new years drinks...

well walking isn;t enough, you've got to sweat when you work out, and you should go to bed hungry. when you are hungry it means you are burning fat, so being hungry is good.

Honest truth about losing weight, eat less.

Don't even consider exercising because that will only make you wont to pig out and eat loads.

Focus on eating less and youll see the weight fly off.

Count the calories, 1000 per day is good to lose weight.

1000-1200 for women, 1500-1800 for men. 1000 would definitely be too little for him, unless he is as small as a woman.

Will.

maybe your mom is lying, cause you definitely look like you have some darker ethnicities in you based on those nipples, but yea, you're still young and you can get that weight off before next summer for sure.

yeah, maybe, she's always had a colour to her as well. Maybe we have some Italian in us, hence my grandma and mines obsession with Italian food.

My father looks like he has something in him, he looks a lot like Daniel Craig

Some said he looks slightly french.

But I'm not sure, I'll look into it.

Exercising along with reduced calorie intake is great. Why would you never exercise?

I think exercise represses hunger, not makes you want to pig out.

Will, learn how to fuel your body with the right things before and after exercise; its really important if you want muscle.
Looking at your picture its just around your middle. Keep in mind that the last place you put weight on is the first place you will lose it. You will have a flat belly in no time :)

I never really noticed myself (idk why I never noticed my cloths were practically falling off of me) until after christmas everyone kept asking me how I lost so much weight.

I don't like the word 'diet'. Diets never work. Eating less and burning more is the best way tbh. Make sure you're on a calorie deficit - burning more than you consume.

Do you have a sport that you enjoy doing Will? Because that can be really helpful.

Is that it Will? it's only afternoon, you will be starving by 9pm, your body will literally shut down to conserve fat as if you are ingesting 1,000 calories a day you are starving yourself...and you won't be able to keep that up either :nono:

You are going about this all wrong, you are eating ridiculously.

Have three or four SMALL meals spread out through the day, here's an example of something I've eaten on a day when I was watching my meals.

One weetabix with milk and a banana
Small baked potato with tuna and salad
Some wholegrain crackers with a light spread
Grilled chicken breast with lots of steamed vegetables

That is not many calories at all, probably equal to what you had today if you don't have huge portions. You can't lose weight if you are starving, your body will go into fat conservation mode. You need to eat regularly to stay sane.

You also need to exercise, you can't exercise with just a ready meal and some wraps in you for a whole day. Eat an apple after exercising if you are hungry.

Also have a small dessert after lunch on Sundays. :)

You are still young and growing, it's dangerous to starve yourself.

but ok so i lost 5 stone in 5 months by eating less and moving more (copyright katie hopkins)

i just ate next to nothing and worked out a bit and it dropped off of me

i met my goal back in september and i've gained about 3 pounds since then (nothing compared to 5 stone though), but i can diet for 2 days and it's gone and i can get back to my 'normal' weight', yeah i've not got a six pack but i'm happy as i am, anything is better than what i was/felt like.

so just do it if it's going to make you happy, it's honestly life changing :clap1:

but ok so i lost 5 stone in 5 months by eating less and moving more (copyright katie hopkins)

i just ate next to nothing and worked out a bit and it dropped off of me

i met my goal back in september and i've gained about 3 pounds since then (nothing compared to 5 stone though), but i can diet for 2 days and it's gone and i can get back to my 'normal' weight', yeah i've not got a six pack but i'm happy as i am, anything is better than what i was/felt like.

so just do it if it's going to make you happy, it's honestly life changing :clap1:

and with that, i pass my weight loss baton and bragging rights to you, will1999

oh wow, this is so inspiring. Well done! You must be so proud! 5 stone is a huge achievement. :clap1:

A think I need to loose about 2 stone, I'm 5ft 10, so that would take be done to 13 stone.

Thank you
lol, I'll try not to brag too much

Will.....a healthy diet, cutting out junk food and drinks, and moving around more will make your body immediately healthier, starving yourself will cause your body to hold onto fat as that's what the body does (it's a survival mechanism), eating foods that are unbalanced i.e. just eating loads of carbs will cause your body to be nutrient deficient (and cause constipation!)

3 balanced meals a day (that's a portion of protein, a portion of carbs and loads of veg) 2 snacks of fruit/nuts (check the amounts!) and plenty of water as well as exercise (enough to get your heart rate up) that's all you need to do to have a healthier lifestyle.

I've ate Chicken ravioli for lunch at Prezzo, carbs, protein and veg (peas).

I walked to the town there and back, a total of 2 hours of walking and about 5 miles walking.

The weight is already going down.

I need to eat carbs tonight as I've got swimming.

Does fruit juice count as fruit, it's fresh from Waitrose?

Fruit Juice is full of sugar. You think that it's healthy because it's FRUIT juice but infact it's no good for you
