Warning given to them
but they refused to move out
in time (this went the same way in New Orleans , USA)

Our PM
sent the Army up there, again
so you would think due to the Danger
even if its a Holiday Day
move south or more North fast

From ITV1NewsHD
one Army man went to many homes asking them
to leave and taking notes of all those that refused to move out
and gave that data to the local Police.

15,000 homes without power,

Very difficult.
Do you stay and try and protec your property and perhaps put yourself in danger or do you just walk away hoping for the best.
Poor beggars, what an awful time for so many families.

Are you joking.

Unless you have a Fridge & Microwave Upstairs
you have to leave , right after you put everything upstairs.

I am sick of locals saying this has never been this bad.
There is a Army man at your door
ready to help
and you say "no thanks
we are staying."

Our PM got our Troops to help
before the Police
and of course as soon as the River /Floods came
the Army help the Police in moving those fools that stayed in there homes

Thats what went down
in New Orleans, USA
when they got flooded.

The Electricity/ Gas People have phoned customers

On the News there was Fire and Water
after a Gas pipe went off

Well I would be off like a shot, but some people aren't insured and are afraid of losing everything to the looters.
I do believe your personal safety is way above having your worldly goods stolen, but we all think differently. Perhaps people dont think that their house will collapse of wash away.

What Looters using Boats in Front of the Army

You are joking

If you have a upstairs all that can be moved is good to go up there.
If you do not
the Flooding a month back has destroyed many already.

One Home Blocked the Front and Back Door
then it came up through the floor.
So take the nice Army Blokes advice

Loads of community spirit though ....goo to see so many people willing to help

Yes I want to Build High Homes on Long Metal
with special sealed paint on them
well above the water level on there
so and floods will not get them.
All Gas/ Electric will be on a high sealed Square pipe
running through all the lofts.

They will have boats
built in each loft
with a Chain to the let them down
no electric used.

When the Water goes down
a special stairs will go down
powered by Solar.

... I've changed my mind, those sound so ugly Arista. I would rather live in a normal house and have it flooded.

I think it's horrible to describe frightened displaced people as stupid.

AnnieK

Yup, I agree Kizzy. I've just been to drop off some cleaning supplies that people hAve asked for...they are not stupid people, just people trying to save their homes and possessions. Some people have lost loads and are still under water....it's awful but so many people helping out and offering services and opening their homes to people without. Fantastic spirit but a lot of shocked sad people

There has been one Major Error
in one zone a Barrier was pulled up due to electricity fears?

Thats not the PM's Fault

One lady lost all her Business papers in her basement
she said no warning ,at all ,was given. (ITV1HD News)

In that case who ever feared Electric Problems
or that the Gate would get stuck or whatever
is 100% to blame for her business destruction.
And must be held accountable.

Aw that's unfortunate, HMRC will not be able to have the figures for her tax assessment then eh?... Tricky tricky.

in the North were Refusing to Leave there homes.

The Army Man was there for any help
so "for those that think its wise to stay in a flooded home"

Not really as the amount of rainfall has been unprecedented and people have been flooded who have lived in these areas for 50 years, so you cant blame new development wholly

50 years =/= unprecidented... these areas are flood plains and so, by definition, have flooded before throughout history. Probably thousands of times. They haven't flooded like this for a while but that's where the logical flaw is... "hasn't happened for a while" doesn't mean "will never happen again".

Flood plains flood. Once all of this is over, they can fix up the damage, they can try to build better flood defenses but if there's one thing you can 100% guarantee... it's that the same places will flood again one day. Might be next year, might be in 20, might be 200... but it will happen... because of geography, and the physics of liquids.

There are women there,
shifting bags with soil ,
Kay Burley spoke to them after the PM

All I can say is well done Dave for getting 700 troops up there
and i know you are going to change things,

One other expert spoke live
he said there are to many divisions
for Flooding - meaning it should just be one.

There is War of words going on
over who raised the Gate.

Now I understand
that if they left it down
more would have been flooded
up river.

But regarding that Business Woman
on ITV1HD News , the other day.
She Got no Phone Call warning

So its suddenly gets to much
water than they first thought
and the Junction Power get flooded
so the pulled up the gate " Fast"
with No Motha Fecking Pre Warning to that zone

No if I had that in Court
The Council and the Bloke in Charge would be Fined.

It's not just about protecting your property it's about having somewhere to go. For many friends and family isn't an option - they to might be flooded and you may have no means of getting there. If rescue centres have been set up (and I'm sure they have) it's not surprising many would only want to use them as a last resort.

The American starting this thread though clearly understands very little about the British - the Blitz spirit is still alive and well.
