If he wants civilians lives to be endanger just so he can have Guns for "Sport" then I seriously hope that he never gets to experience the loss of a friend or a family member like so many Americans have to do every single day in that country due to being shot to death.

I agree. It's undeniable how many innocent people are shot dead because of the second amendment. Of course there are arguments for gun ownership and there will be the rare occasion where someone somewhere needs to defend themselves, but in reality, the right to bear arms brings far more harm than good imo.

We have no '2nd amendment' here, but our gun crimes are escalating year in year out.
Criminals, and psycopaths do not NEED any permit to obtain, carry, and use guns, and would certainly ignore any law prohibiting them from possessing or using guns, and though current US gun laws undoubtedly make it easier for those who perpetrate gun crimes, repeal of the '2nd Amendment' would NOT prevent the greater majority of such gun crimes from ocurring.
Another thing to carefully ponder, is this:
Would the death toll of innocents have been as high as 17 in the horrific Dunblane school massacre back in 1996, if the teacher had access to a firearm and knew how to use it?
Would the horrific death toll of the Paris Bataclan theatre have been as high as 89 if just SOME of those innocent theatre goers or Security Staff had been carrying weapons?
The great irony of Law, is that it is only ever adhered to by the lawful and never by the lawless, so criminals and psychotics are never going to be deterred by any laws.

His civil war reference is surprising, is this an admission of confederacy?

If I thought for one moment he eats what he hunts then I'd agree with you. But I would lay a month's salary that he doesn't, so the chicken analogy is flawed. And of course, chickens aren't generally hunted in wild.
The right to bear arms is as archaic as the right to keep slaves. It wouldn't be so bad if people were allowed one pistol or one rifle or one shotgun, I live in the countryside, everyone around here has a shotgun including me. But that's not enough. They can, perfectly legally, own a whole arsenal of military-standard automatic weapons which is just so stupid I don't have enough words to condemn it.

If someone broke in, by the time I'd got to the locked cabinet, unlocked it, taken the gun out, got the cartridges from a locked drawer, loaded it... they'd have probably ransacked the place or murdered me.

Not after you've rugby tackled them and tied them to a chair... Right? :omgno:
"Why are his exploded remains mixed with splinters of chair and rope? Umm... Honest ossifer, he was trying to steal that chair, he had strapped it to himself with the rope and was charging at me with knives! "
