I think Cleo was right there. Although he may not have liked it, his response seemed rather cruel to me. If you're that worried about your kids watching you wouldn't do the show in the first place.

It is one rule for him and another for women. He don't respect women enough. What he wants is a maid not a woman.

I think Cleo was right. Probably...
They both had a point, but if Dirk's kids were watching why does he joke in that way about porn? But then, Cleo probably should've stopped when Dirk said. But come to think of it, Dirk is now smoking inside and refuses to even open the door a little bit when Ian asks NICELY, so it is a bit hypocritical of Dirk to expect someone to stop teasing him when he can't be expected to stop forcing others in the room to breathe his smoke. That puts me off Dirk a bit since I don't like someone else smoking right beside me neither, the other side of the room with an open door/window is OK though.
But I'm starting to worry that Dirk is the next victim of the coven.

Dirk, by his own description, is a lonely man.... he's so right a sad, lonely old man last in the queue when they gave out sense of humours.
Unfortunately Im of an age ( yes right over 40!) and loved Cleo and her totally 'off the wall' S.O.H. when she worked with Kenny Everett. To people of my age group the woman is a legend who, before all the crop of women comedians (Dawn French, Victoria Wood & all that followed), was an icon of comedic & totally outrageous acting.

I think they were both right and wrong.
Dirk should have been able to take it, but Cleo should have stopped when he asked her to.

I'm in my 20s and adored Cleo in her Kenny Everett days too. I love the idea of someone having alter-ego characters. Wish I could.
It struck me as a little sad that a grown man in 60s can't deal with a younger woman having a bit of fun.

Yeah it was just a bit of fun.
What's all this nonsense about kids anyway? No one was getting disembowelled, beheaded or hung.

Cleo did something very clever after her little performance with Dirk. After Jermaine had had a word with her, Cleo went and had a word with Jo, saying, "its better to take the route where we dont get blamed", meaning, its best not to wind people up. Although they took the long way round, Cleo eventually got the message across to Jo that they shouldnt be bitching and bullying. Lets see if it registered.

I think Cleo was right, Dirks arguement about his kids were watching was pathetic. Dirk is all over Shilpa and he needs to find a sense of humour...he use to be entertaining but now he has turned into a boring grumpy old man. I think Cleo just wanted to lighten the mood...and Jermaine, Shilpa, H, Danielle etc all went in to watch the fun and Dirk should learn that if he can give it out jokingly to take it jokingly.

But Shilpa clearly isn't bothered by Dirk's flirting. As he said, if he was teasing someone and they asked him to stop, he would stop. Shilpa flirts with Dirk and was laughing when they were playing around that morning. If she had asked him to stop I'm sure he would have done.
If he had been clambering all over Cleo the way she was with him, and she asked him to stop, but he carried on and followed her around the house, there would be an uproar. Because she's female she gets away with it.
Incidentally, Cleo's comment in the diary room - "Dirk's close to cracking and we should play on that," showed a very nasty side to her.

Dirk just doesn't know how to talk to the girls.. Cleo was right she was in character and Dirk just turned it spiteful
Dirk shouldn't give it if he can't take.
Dirk saying he didn't like it because his kids are watching is a load of crap because if her really felt that way he wouldn't be all over Shilpa, wouldn't be talking about porn to young women and wouldn't be saying things like "I'd like it if Danielle was my daughter"
Dirk has some serious issues with women.
but when dirk was "giving it", he wasn't getting told to stop, shilpa was playing back,
whilst the spitefullness of Cleo, was just on another level.
and no i wont shut up, just becuase im not part of the collective

He said if someone (ie Shilpa) asked him to stop, he would. Shilpa was laughing about it, and enjoying herself, so you cannot compare the two situations.
The porn comment was clearly a joke. And Jo and Danielle have the filthiest mouths in the house anyway. Besides which danielle has posed topless herself.
And finally - when he said about Danielle being his daughter, the comment was completely taken out of context. What he meant was that Danielle is more the age of a daughter to him than someone he would be likely to fancy.
Cleo could clearly see that he was upset by her attentions - so why did she follow him through the house? Does it amuse her to see someone upset? What about her diary room comment - "Dirk's about to crack and we should play on that?" That's nasty and spiteful. It seems like she is the one with issues.
What amazes me is that if the roles had been reversed, Dirk would be getting all sorts of stick for harrassing Cleo and following her all around the house.

So because Jo and Danielle have filthy mouths and because Danielle has posed topless it's okay for him to talk about porn with them BUT even though Dirk continually , as he himself puts it, "teases" the other housemates , it is not acceptable for Dirk to be teased himself.
Have you never heard of the saying "Treat others how you want to be treated"
That is not what I was saying.
There is a total difference in having a joke with people, who clearly do not mind the joke (Jo and danielle asked him to elaborate about the porn) - but he said that if he was teasing someone and they asked him to stop, he would stop. Nobody asked him to stop!!! He asked Cleo to stop a couple of times, and she wouldn't. By her own admission, she could see that he was not happy, but she continued to follow him around the house.
If Jo or danielle had asked him to stop talking about porn, and he had carried on, then he would have been out of order. But they were entering into the conversation.
Why is it so difficult for people to understand?!

It's is like someone playing a practical joke on you but when the practical joke is played on that person they go into a hissy fit - "Treat others how you want to be treated"
If he knows he doesn't like that sort of behaviour he should know not behave in that way towards someone else.
He said, if someone asked him to stop, he would stop. He asked Cleo to stop - she did NOT STOP!!!! Plus, Cleo woke him up to harass him - I don't recall him doing that.
Besides which he did NOT behave in that way to anyone else. He did not follow anyone around the house when they were clearly upset and had asked him not to. his behaviour does not even begin to compare to Cleo's.
You also completely misinterpreted his comment about having a daughter like Danielle. Cleo took it to mean the same thing as you did, and he put her straight. He wasn't being lecherous about danielle.

He didn't smoke outside when asked politely by Ian, who had not done anything to him, Shilpa is allergic to cigar smoke, that didn't stop him either.
And the Danielle comment is how you interpreted it, his correction to Cleo of that comment seemed to me to be in a *wink wink, nudge nudge* sort of way.
It's pretty obvious that he doesn't fancy Danielle!

Umm... no defence for the smoking of the cigar then?
Yeah. He was wrong to smoke the cigar in the house. Although I don't know if he was aware that Shilpa is allergic to cigar smoke. But yeah - I agree, he should have taken the cigar outside.
Interesting how Dirk has one bad day and everyone has the claws out. Whereas Danielle and Jo have been bitchy for ages, and everyone's all of a sudden prepared to forget that.

Thats because the house still has bad people in it. Cleo is the new Jade,. a bit less rough around the edges but she immediatly stepped into the alpha female role as soon as she left. coincedence? I dont think so.
I agree the cigar thing is a bit out of line,. but if it hasnt been a problem for fifteen + days then why care now?,. besides, Jo smokes like a chimney and i dont see anyone asking her to go outside.
I'm pretty sure if Shilpa told Dirk that she's allergic to cigar smoke he would do as he was asked.
LOL! ttw, sometimes it can seem if people are getting personal towards each other on here. If I seemed like that I'm sorry - I didn't mean to. I do honestly like to hear other people's opinions, even if I don't share them.
:spin:
But now, I really must get back to work!

I'm with Cleo, it was just a bit of fun, but she did take it too far. With Dirk he was being nasty about smoking in the house even though Shilpa is allergic to it.

He normally smokes outside that's why Ian asked him to smoke outside... Shilpa said he knows Dirk knows about her allergy because she said he was "doing it on purpose"
Cigarette smoke is bad, but cigar smoke is really, really strong.
I don't think Cleo is the new Jade , I think that is a bit extreme and also too early to judge such a thing.
