There's a debate erupting on Twitter, so I thought that I'd pose the question here. Personally, it's a no from me as it's very tasteless to use someone's death as promotion for a reality television programme. If they wanted to pay some form of tribute, they could have dedicated the episode to him at the end of the credits or shown a clip on BOTS.

No. But I think they've clearly asked her and she oked it since they said all day she would be told off camera.

No, not at all.

I think they told her off screen or maybe a friend told her off screen and they it's showing us her speaking to BB about wanting to go on

My only issue is when they've shown it. They could have shown it tomorrow with the rest of today's footage.

They were obviously going to show some form of reaction from Angie in tomorrow's highlights but they never have a 'coming up tomorrow' segment at the end so using the death randomly tonight in that way as promotion is a bit distasteful

So just to clear this up, they actually showed the clip of her being told? I just assumed since they said it was off-camera the clips they showed were like 'and tomorrow...Angie tells the housemates about Davie Bowie's passing'

She's obviously okayed it so in that sense it's fine with me...but tomorrow, you know when it's actually scheduled to be broadcast, not as some kind of teaser so people can get excited about it :umm2:

yes, of course they should as people will have tuned in to see if they did.

for me, as a massive bowie and bb fan it was the best ending to a very sad day as i was able to share some of her grief.

Can Bowie be added after David, to avoid confusion with Gest? (Although I know everyone pretty much knows it's Bowie)

It is entirely relevant to the programme. She will walk anyway...I don't see how they could have left it out unless she did leave and asked them not to show it as a mark of respect. This will not alter the outpouring of grief. What would have been bad is if a news programme showed his wife's reaction. Angie has not been with him for donkeys years and although she will be deeply affected she could have requested that they did not show her reaction. It would seem she has not done this.

Not quite - they didn't show her being told (as you've writen, she was told off-camera by her management), but they showed a clip of her in the Diary Room I'm assuming right after she had been told with David and John comforting her right before the credit sequence.

Nah, definitely shouldn't have shown it.

No. I don't have any issues really with them showing the reaction or whatever if she said it was ok.

but using it as promo is disgusting. I'm half expecting to see a bunch of adverts tomorrow along the lines of 'tune in tonight to see how angie takes the news' and stuff :umm2:

I tried to but the title is already at the character limit, so I'm afraid not.

Yeah I don't see why not. She's decided to stay so Bowie's death and her emotional state is going to be under a lot of focus in the house over the next few days, there's no getting away from that. We're going to see a lot of her reflecting on the news and her being comforted over it so why not also show this clip: BB realised that Angie's status in the house became a big talking point very soon after the news broke this morning and will have known that people were curious about how it would be handled and what decision would be made. This clip was just answering those questions.

zakman, just change David to DB and everybody will know who is in question.

And no, they shouldn´t have shown that.

Im with you on this one zakman. I thought it was in poor taste. People are going to watch the shows anyway and they know that the news was broken to Angie.

Yea BB just tweeted she was informed off screen must be the after talk they show, but usuing it at the end like that was inconsiderate

I'm kinda disgusted by the way the production is using David's death to get the viewers. "In tommorow's episode!"... Really?
On the other hand, it'd be quite weird if they hadn't show us a bit of Angie's reaction and put it all on the side pretending like nothing happened.
I don't know...

it was probably the most tastefull way to let viewers know they were covering it. a tweet or spoken words would have been distastefull if you think about it.

I totally agree.
I think had she decided to walk from the show because of it...it would not have been shown. That footage would have been recorded after being told privately and after her decision to carry on with the show. They would have asked her if she would like anyone of the housemates to share the news with and be with her as she returned to face the rest of the house...and she obviously chose John and David Gest. She is going to have tears...I think they showed us that footage tonight so that we saw her decision to return to the house on the day that it happened.
Angie would have agreed with it.

Its not, some people who could not be bothered to watch BOts (where Rylan explained) or watch tv news in the morning did not understand what they saw

so some mug twats complained to offcom and offcom will do NOTHING about it

I wouldn't have made the decision to air it, but I won't condemn them for it- it was Angie's decision to stay in the house and she knew that by making this decision her emotions/reactions would be part of the show.

A spokesperson for Channel 5 said: “Angie Bowie was told off-camera about the tragic death of David Bowie by her agent. She then took the decision to remain in the house of her own accord. Last night’s preview of the upcoming programme included footage of Angie in the diary room after she had heard the news about her ex-husband

This woman split up from DB long before 95% of this forum was born

She hasnt even seen her kid with him since 1984
