Tiffany Pollard was subject to bullying according to viewers and the communications regulator are currently deciding whether Channel 5 will be investigated or not

Celebrity Big Brother housemate John Partridge is caught up in a race row, following an argument with Tiffany Pollard.

During Tuesday night's CBB - Tiffany became hysterical after assuming David Gest had died in the Diary Room.

Following the incident she was asked to leave by the former EastEnders actor and other housemates because of her reaction and this upset some viewers.

While many CBB fans complained that it was unfair for the US reality star to be 'isolated' and 'abused', other viewers have alleged John's 'chicken' comment was racial motivated, which Ofcom are now assessing.

Partridge said: "[Tiffany] only wants to come to talk to us now cos she’s hungry and wants some chicken."

The CBB housemates demanded Tiffany leave the house after she laughed at causing havoc by misunderstanding what Angie Bowie had said to her.

John Partridge later told Tiffany how serious the situation was and that people were ready to leave if she stayed - because they felt threatened by her and didn’t want her in the house.

She replied: “Well that’s too bad!”

Partridge replied: "She only wants to come to talk to us now cos she’s hungry and wants some chicken."

Some viewers have taken offence to the alleged racial remark, saying that John's 'chicken' reference pandered to an offensive stereotype.

According to Ofcom there have been 211 complaints for Tuesday night's episode.

'41 complaints over bullying towards Tiffany by other housemates'.

'154 complaints that it was in bad taste to televise Angie being told of David Bowie's death'.

'16 complaints objecting to Tiffany's hysterical reaction and subsequent aggression around misunderstanding of David Bowie / David Guest death'.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: “We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not”.

John Partridge's reps have contacted for comment.

Channel 5 have refused to comment on the situation.

Honestly, a storm in a teacup.
I think as with other series on TV, BB seems now,as it likely did on Channel 4 too, to have serial complainers to Ofcom about almost anything at all that goes on in it.

They are small numbers as to complaints really.

Christ...what's the matter with people. Some people need to get real and focus on more important issues.
The whole scenario was a massive misunderstanding....watching reactions is what we tune in for....discuss...don't make a serious complaint about it ffs.

I would love it if Ofcom had a standard reply letter.

Hi there

Thanks for your complaint, have you considered changing channels?

There are plenty of other options to watch TV shows without beating yourself up over comments made on this particular programme.

While I have your attention, did you deliberately watch this programme because of the warning that appears before each segment is aired.

Thanks again

I'm not black so I don't know how offensive that stereotype is, but if some people did find it offensive then why shouldn't they complain? It's their prerogative.

:fist: His reference that she wanted chicken WAS racist. American blacks are equated with a love of chicken and the context he used this connection in was definitely insulting.

Saying; "(She) only wants to come to talk to us now cos she’s hungry and wants some chicken." is also inferring that Tiffany is the type of person to prostitute her principles for a piece of chicken. How demeaning is that?

I keep seeing this repeated, especially on DS. Who said they had chicken?

I re watched the ep and I saw/ heard nothing about chicken.

What John said is far worse than what legend Winston said. Eject him now before we end up in another shilpa type situation.

'154 complaints that it was in bad taste to televise Angie being told of David Bowie's death'.

But we didn't even see Angie being told of his death, we only saw what happened after. This doesn't make much sense to me??
