I'm gonna love this. I'm still pissed off about the OJ Simpson trial 20 years later.

Just seen the first ep of this, was really good. The OJ case is the sort of thing that everyone knows of but I've never really understood how it all played out so will definitely stick with it

Just watched the first episode. Absolutely brilliant.

I don't know much about the trial as I'm too young to remember it. It's very interesting though. Sarah Paulson is excellent in it.

Great performance from Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clarke; almost eerily good. I cant wait for the next episode.

I think it's doing a good job so far, the way they clearly show how blacks are willing to completely ignore the facts and just support a black man because he's black is really well done, and very relevant to a lot of what's been going on in the media lately when it comes to black criminals.

it's a very relevant case, and people need to be more conscious of how the black lives matter movement has nothing to do with justice, and everything to do with just black anger.

one of the most poignant moments for me was when there were people cheering for OJ on the highway, and a reporter asks one of the cheering black guys "why are you cheering for Oj? and he responds "we aren't cheering for OJ, we are booing the LAPD" and she then responds, "that's not what it sounds like"....

i wish black people that really care about racial justice realized how bad they come across when they cheer for criminals and murderers, and think that is the same as booing the corruption in the police force. they ruin their own cause by cheering for criminals.

Thats quite a summation. This was in the 2nd episode as I recall, so while I was sitting in amazement at how much the actors looked like their real life counterparts, you were putting all this together.

The scene you're referring to is 3 seconds at the most and it was to introduce the Chris Darden character and juxtapose his role in the prosecution team with the views of the black community but instead you managed to see all of this.

I take it you watched all of it? Surely you'll have plenty to comment on how they redressed the balance or is this gonna be your only contribution to the thread?

I watched YouTube videos of the OJ Simpson trial last night. I've always been aware of the situation, but never have looked into it enough to realise just how ****ing unbelievable it is.

I've just finished the second episode of American Crime Story, and I'm hooked. I feel that I'm getting so angry at OJ as a character. I'm anticipating the court-room scenes. That's when it'll get even more interesting. The cast are also doing a good job at this point. I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is, but they seem to portraying their roles quite well from the clips I have seen from the trial and post-trial interviews.

Braden

So if the third episode is correct. The 911 calls were released with OJ shouting in the background, and people still thought he did not kill her?

It's frightening how race got between OJ's imprisonment. A situation that still goes on to this day, the Black community wanted to fight back so much against law enforcement that they felt so obliged to believe OJ due to his prestige. Despite the fact that there was so much evidence suggesting he was the culprit of the double-homicide.

Who needs horror movies when you an watch things like this? It was real life.

I don't know much about the real trial, but this show really does it well.

It was a great series. It did well to show how the defense team felt after the verdict was given.

If anything I felt it concentrated a bit too much on the relationship between Chris Darden and Marcia Clarke but still the courtroom scenes were completing especially the treatment of the Furhmann tapes.

Braden
16-10-2016, 08:58 PM
Yeah, I saw they used some real footage of the car chase, and I'm aware that they use real-life reactions to when he is found not guilty. I remember having it on for a few minutes and watching that scene when it was first airing. I think the reactions will be what I remember whenever I think about the trial itself.

There's some YouTube clips of the trial that I recommend you watch if the TV series interested you. So many interviews at the time of the incident, interviews nowadays with the real people, etc.

It's gripping stuff, GiRTh. So many things to consider, and the whole case is so intricate with every little thing being so compelling.

I'm on episode 4, and I'm quite astounded that Marcia Clarke was determined to have so many black people on the jury. That, and Faye Resnick going out of her way to sell her dead friend out for money. Do we know if that book had an influence in court procedures in real-life?

It's excellent, Ammi.

SPOILER

I'm so shocked that the defence team were able to redecorate OJ's house for the jury's inspection, and I never realised how wrong The People were in their response to the trial and how they handled it. So many things went wrong for them.

Is the second season confirmed to be about Hurricane Katrina?

I'm just about to star episode 7 of OJ vs. The People. I'm absolutely loving it. I feel so sorry for Marcia Clarke because of the way she was treated. It must have been so difficult to balance home-life with this case, and everyone seemed like they were out to get her. Her and Darden had it hard, bless them. I love their relationship in the series.

Finished the season.

The whole thing is just unbelievable. The last few episodes concentrating on the jury, and what torment they suffered psychologically from the whole ordeal was unlike how I imagined. I still can't believe he was found not guilty...but I can. It was like a storm of the worst possible things coming together and creating such a complicated scenario...though to some people really isn't that complicated at all.

It was interesting to see into the perspectives of The People and OJ's defense team. I found myself being annoyed with Cochran, but the realisation of his outcome being achieved through Bill Clinton discussing racial matters brought a new light to him as a person. OJ...I don't even know where to begin. I don't even want to bother to be honest.

I just felt so sorry for the Simpson and Goldman families. All this time and there really isn't any justice served for Nicole or Ron's deaths.

In January 2017, it was announced Season 2 would not premiere until 2018 due to the source material, and Season 3 will air within six months of the second season's airing.

Season 4 will cover the Monica Lewinsky-Bill Clinton sex scandal and the ensuing events during Clinton's presidency, based on Toobin's book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.
