Not really. BB7 was a brilliant series, whereas CBB17 is weak.
CBB17 isn't weak and BB7 wasn't a brilliant series

BB13 = BB6
BB14 = BB7
BB15/16 (mostly 16 tbh) = BB8
I think this is quite accurate. Obviously the C4 ones are better, but those are the C5 equivalents to the C4 ones. BB15/16 are awful whereas BB8 was just average, but they're similar because of the abysmal production and all the pointless twists they had in order to boost ratings (BB16) and replicate the success of BB7 (BB15 trying to replicate the success of Secrets and Lies)

No no no BB8 was a good series.
I don't think you can compare the towie/apprentice style seasons to C4

Literally every C5 series is cotton-candy TOWIE so idg that logic.
That's why I said the C4 ones are obviously better and that 15/16 were awful whilst 8 was average at best. But in terms of production and feel they're quite similar IMO.

BB8 was average imo. I don't think it's a classic series or anywhere near as good as BB3, 5-7 but it's not the worst either. But you'd be lying if you said the production for that series was actually good as they made a lot of useless decisions which affected the quality of that series.

Mainly 12,15 and 16. 13/14 wasn't as quite like towie especially 14.. I don't think BB8 production is similar to 15/16 because those were the worst and vile BB8 wasn't no where near it. BB11/BB10 maybe but not BB8.

So in other words, good C5 series = not TOWIE, bad C5 series = TOWIE.
BB8's production consisted of throwing about useless twists in order to garner ratings, hype, and media interest after the significant drop in viewers compared to BB7, like the all-female launch, £100k giveaway, Fake Week (although that one was good), Halfway House, etc. BB16's production was exactly the same, the constant 'Timebombs', 4IN4OUT, Secret Bunker, Legends, Cashbomb - all of which were done to also increase ratings after the worrying drop of viewers compared to what any other C5 BB had.
There's definitely a correlation there. I'm not saying BB8 as a series overall and BB15/16 are THE SAME. But I do think the way BB15/16 (mainly 16) worked out in the end is quite similar to the way BB8 did back in 2007. BB8 was HATED at the time and was seen as a flop - the same way BB16 is being seen now.
Obviously BB8 has aged well in comparison given well...C5 BB.

I also think BB11 and BB16 are quite similar too in the sense that both the series didn't feel like Big Brother whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure the public voted BB7 as the best series (in that BB Awards Show thing back in 2010 before BB11 had started), so maybe you misheard.
BB8 was still quite negatively received in 2010 iirc.

BB7 was voted best series in the BB Awards Show, the Last Supper didn't have a public vote I don't think

Am I right in saying that BB6 is often ignored by most fans (Casuals anyway) as it always seems like people remember BB7 ("The one with Nikki") or BB5 ("The one with Nadia") as being the best. I could be wrong as I didn't watch BB until 2011 but that's what it feels like

I think BB3, BB5 and BB7 are the most remembered/most iconic seasons. BB6 isn't really remembered as much amongst casual viewers

Yeah, BB3 too as obviously people will remember Jade
Jason.

BB6 isn't as popular as BB3, 5, and 7 by casual viewers, which is why it's a underrated series. Even at the time, BB6 was seen as a flop by some because it didn't rate as highly as BB5 the year before and it went back to getting the same ratings as BB4 did and that was also considered an even bigger flop.

I think BB6 not being remembered much by casuals and people thinking BB5/7 was better is quite similar to how BB13 isn't really regarded as anything impressive or remembered as much as say BB14 (which most viewers tend to label as the best C5 series and best BB series since 2008.)

I suppose a lot of people would not watch it if they were one of many who were outraged at Fight Night a year before

Yeah at the time BB6 received much criticism for being a nasty and volatile house full of vile people and people kept saying there was nobody to root for as they were all so unlikable, which is part of why I think the ratings dropped half a million compared to BB5.
And they had a point, but it made great viewing and entertainment.
