What was all that about, anyone know? Why does Gemmas mum have problems with walking? Broken leg, disability?

She has osteoarthritis. Needs two new knees I think.
I know it is very painful and can stop you moving about at times.

I'm genuinely glad that she is walking again, but still baffled why a section of the public think her horrible **** of a daughter can 'walk on water'.

Isn't it amazing how she walked for the first time in the week leading up to the final ....and how Gemmas response was not to plan a celebration in honour of her moms achievement but instead to plan a party for HERSELF.

Osteoarthritis but people won't take an opportunity not to take a dig at Gemma even when it's not tasteful, hey

She's probably trying to make a run for it before Gemma gets back....I know I would

It was a touching moment
It was a touching moment
..it was actually, I thought that as well, Jake...another touching moment was how pleased and happy John seemed to genuinely feel as well because his mum is obviously quite poorly and the worry both he and Gemma experience each day with their mum's health problems...so quite a touching 'bonding' moment for them as well I think...

I literally must be watching a different show, the amount of blubbing that went on anyone would think they were forced into the house at gunpoint

Oh you went there :worry:
Laugh... but it could be any of you with a major disability in 20-40 years. Getting old sucks and is even more difficult if you have nobody who will help you...
I am glad Gemma's mom is walking. Don't know the condition, but my grandmother recently stayed in home after a full knee replacement and the recovery is BRUTAL. We're still having major problems with her back. She has degenerative disk disease among other things and the pain is enough to put her to tears just standing up to do basic things like making a sandwich... I'm a chronic pain sufferer as well and I wouldn't wish 1/100th of my pain on my worst enemy. Pain is very hard on the body when it is in long duration and severe and can be very mentally and emotionally draining.

I don't think people are laughing at her mum's disability, it's more like making fun of Gemma for her callous attitude towards it...i.e. her cutting off her mom to demand that she arrange for a party for Gemma then she hung up on her.
Sorry to hear you're suffering...no one wants to wish that on you or anyone. :flower:

I am glad that her mom is walking again but very sad that Gemma will soon be out of the house and making her mom walk to KFC to get her regular family bucket for one again.

..yeah, those physical pains that people live with every day and just go on endlessly, a truly horrid thing and as you say, as people get older, the body doesn't recover so quickly and also depending on each individual as well...it's all very 'aging' and draining..I'm so sorry a bout your mum and you as well.....

Agree with this, not laughing at the Mum at all just stunned at how Gemma could ask her to get on with organising a party

We are not bashing Gemma for her moms health issues, we are bashing Gemma for her reaction to her moms health issues.....not the same thing at all....I wish her mom well in everything she does....this was about Gemma dismissive reaction to what she claimed was overwhelming news....apparently not too overwhelming to stop Gemma cutting her mom off mid sentence to talk about Gemma again....talk about a party to celebrate Gemmas fake achievement and not a party to celebrate her moms amazing genuine achievement.

I wish I knew who this "we" was!:joker:
Anyway, Gemma had a little cry at the news her mum gave her, then noticed she had taken up a bit of time so ended the call by asking for a big party, is there any real harm in that?
You don't need to answer btw as I know what is right.

Exactly. Maybe her Mum loves parties. Gemma could have meant "orgainize it" meaning by getting friends or siblings to do it. She also asked her Mum "Are you SURE you're fine? "
Honestly, the reaction against Gemma over the stupidest things is just laughable. She was saving time for the other HM's, especially Dani. Not everyone has to bawl and wail and make a big deal out of a phone call. She'll be seeing her Mum in a week.

I should imagine Gemma will have had her mother off her feet a few times, so she won't see it as a miracle, more a relief that she is back on them again.
She was obviously pleased, no doubt about that, as to the party, I dare say she will have already asked her mother to sort something out for her birthday party if she isn't out of the house in time.
You now, when we poor beggars are off our feet we are very good on the telephone and the Internet, plus we are stuck in the ruddy chair all day so having something to organise is fantastic.

...this is a 'proper' Essex style party, I would think it would be a phone call to a party planner or a text to a friend to contact the party planner...(I'm not sure that the Towie's plan parties themselves do they...they're getting their nails/hair etc did proper while it's all going on..)...I did take from the whole thing that her happiness and excitement was all for her mum...

This topic just shows why bb is flopping.. This show is only about making hms uncomfortable now and not about social interactions.. Us fans are too negative as well

These are not bright people and can often end up congratulating each other when they manage to walk through doorways.

Wtf's a mom?Have we all turned American.I mean there's an 'I' in between the 'U' and the 'O' so it can't be typos.
Poor Gemmas mUm.I actually feel for her giving birth to that disgrace.I'd be fecking running if i knew she was coming back out into society. It's probably a very good rehabilitation technique.Just threaten to send Gemma round.

The " we " is the response to the plural you used when you addressed "everyone "
Your error not ours

Sorry but some of us are American (or Canadian in my case) and we use the word 'mom'. Not sure why this is so offensive to you...it's the way we spell it...no offense intended.
