He wanted her out the house but John has a screwed up idea what's a friend..he nominated his friend Darren at the first opportunity, he knew how much it meant for Darren to stay in as long as possible to show he had beat his demons and was now employable.

..yeah, not only for Darren to beat his demons but to have as much time as he could/stay as long as he could to change public perception of him and hopefully make him 'employable' again as you say, Erin....what I think is funny is that John is thought as 'the most intelligent' both by the public vote and by the other housemates, as they chose him...and yet, he didn't see that 'dark horse' coming right under his nose and that his 'papa figure' was bringing so much negative from the public...he's been completely unaware of who has become what he would have felt was his 'biggest threat'....tbf though, I think he did see that in Darren/the threat and when they were meant to be close and friends, he nominated him to go...
