I can see why there is controversy. It seems that the scene is not graphic. But, I would have to see the movie before I pass judgement, and that's unlikely. As a mother, it would be upsetting to watch a movie with that storyline. I doubt I will ever see it.

I can understand the controversy, but it's not graphic and I think that particular scene is integral to the whole film.

But little girls do get raped, they arent showing anything that dosent happen.
But they better do it properly,as in film it when shes not even in the room, get a muchkin or somthing to act it with a bowl wig haircut.

I read about this on BBC the other day. I think that is its tastefully done then is ok. However, Dakota Fanning is only 12 and to be in a film where is has to play someone who is raped is shocking. The actress says that all you see are legs, hands etc and nothing is viewed in full but she would have had to get into the mindset of this role. :bored:

It's controversial, true. But living in a world where everything is censored?
This kind of thing happens EVERYDAY, it's not like some director has thought up something sick to put in the film just to get it awards. It's fighting for the victims side. Hiding issues like this can make it seem like something to be ashamed of - even for the victims and so I don't think something in reality should be completely censored out of the public eye.

Yes but should a 12 year play the role??? Surely they could have used a older actress say 15/16 to play the role and make her look younger

I agree that a child of 12 shouldn't be exposed to this sort of thing, but I'm sure the directors/producers will tread carefully.
