Hi,
I've created this thread to get us all talking about the many great music software programs out here online. Many are free and some are pro audio suits that you have to pay for.
The software that i use to write my songs with is Propellerhads Reason 8.
Checkout the videos below to see it in action.

Audacity is great (mainly because it's free lol) it's what I used to make my remix that I entered in the tibbvision contest and I've been using it quite a lot recently making other ones, I'd recommend it for people who aren't that familiar with music software and just want to test the waters and have a play around without spending money on it. It's a good place to start.
There's also Samplitude which I've used a little bit. It's technically much better than Audacity in that it's more professional and there are tons more things you can do in terms of creating and manipulating instruments (rather than just using existing sound files, like in Audacity), but it's probably not for beginners. I downloaded a free trial (you can use the full version for free but it expires after a few weeks, then you have to pay if you want to keep using it) and it looked great and well worth paying for. I'd buy it if I wanted to start doing things that are out of Audacity's scope.
I haven't seen any other programmes so I don't know how those two compare with others. From what I've heard though, Audacity is the most widely used software that is fully free.

Yes audacity is a great free program. Ideal for those who want to enter a song in the tibb song contests. You should check this out too. It's free to use for some of it but again the free version (which it runs online btw) has enough for you to make your own music demo and sing over it to then save it as a wav file/mp3 etc.
Check it out here...
It's called...Soundation Studio.

A great selection of wonderful programs!
We are spoilt for choice i think these days. Many times it comes down to ease of use. I started with cakewalk software until i found propellerheads Reason program so i know this one inside out which is why i stuck with it all these years. I've tried all of the above and tbf i found them all to be great daws too. A lot of people use Albeton Live for edm dance music production.:wavey:

Here is a video introduction to the Soundation Studio.
It's ideal for beginers and you can expand on it for a small fee to get more pro features.
Take a peek of it here...

You Tube deleted it because of the copyright violations haha! I'm working on another one at the moment so I think when I've finished that I'll upload that as well as my tibbvision one again. Do you know how to get round the copyright problems though? I know I uploaded something for a tibb game recently that used copyrighted music and I got a message from YT saying they recognised it was copyrighted but it was fine as long they put ad's on it or something, so I don't know why they didn't just do that for my tibbvision song

I've had a few of mine that have been ok but when an artist releases their greatest hits they look for those songs and remove them. In my case it was ellie goulding love me like you do. As soon as her christmas album came out it got removed. lol Only thing i can think of is to make your video private. That way you can still let people view it by sharing the link.
You could try doing a search in youtube for how to get around copyright material? Worth a try.
Also try joining dailymotion because there rules are slightly different so some songs that youtube remove are still ok on there.

I don't think your computer needs to be that good (although I don't know how bad your current one is!) You should get a free trial of one of the programs mentioned in this thread to see how it works with your PC as you might find it's ok (and if it isn't, you haven't lost anything)

I use propellerhead reason 8 software to create my songs. It allows you to record not only vocal tracks but any track you want including guitar tracks. You can make a song from scratch using this amazing software. Well worth a look.

This software is only £20. Dance Ejay. You simply drag and drop to make your song. Ideal for beginners but it gives you a very polished sound. Ideal for those who enter the tibb eurovision and xmasvision contests. I think you can even record your voice over the song you create. Amazing software for just £20! I love technology! :)
