Teen Charged After Posting Facebook Video of Him Pouring Boiling Water on Cat

A Chicago teenager faces charges after allegedly videotaping himself pouring scalding water on a cat and posting it to Facebook Tuesday night.
Leon Teague, of the 6900 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, has been charged with one felony count of animal torture and one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty after a video was uncovered showing the 18-year-old luring a cat on a porch and dousing it with boiling water, according to police.

In the video a white cat with black spots can be seen near a blue litter box and a feeding tray outside on the rear porch of a home with someone behind the camera holding a black pot with hot water. The man in the video can be heard making noises to get the cat to come in his direction and then, once it comes close enough, burning the animal.
After being hit with the scorching water, the video shows the cat immediately begin to howl loudly before running for safety away from the porch.

The man in the video can be heard then yelling loudly at the cat, telling it to “never come back.”
After the video was posted to the social media website at 10 p.m. Tuesday, the Cook County Sheriffs Department and the Chicago Police Department Animal Crimes team was able to identify the offender as the South Side teenager.

The cat was last seen alive in the area but ran away when officers tried to catch it, police said.
Teague is scheduled to appear in Cook County Bond Court Friday afternoon.

..this really, I'm not sure about the 'often go on to become' bit but that may be true in some cases as well..but whoever can do something like this is a seriously disturbed mind, so it's not just about justice, it's about addressing that as well otherwise a disturbed mind in desperate need of help is only going to come out of prison as it went in and most probability, do again.../something equally horrendous or worse than...

I deleted my FB profile two years ago when they refused to remove a video of 2 men torturing and then dousing a kitten in petrol and setting it on fire. Despite thousands of complaints FB said the video hadn't breached site's 'community standards'.

Thank God he is being brought to justice. I saw this video and it disturbed me. The way the cat runs off screaming made my stomach churn. I'm happy that the cat was last seen alive and survived the scalding.

The law is unlikely to do anything major about this. A suspended sentence and a some community service maybe and banned from keeping animals for life. This is why people get so pissed off.

I have no issues with people taking it into their own hands as long as its only the person who did this that gets caught up in it. Pouring boiling water on him would be best punishment, I think.

I do hope he undergoes some psychiatric checks, harming animals is usually a giant red flag that something is very wrong.

Sadly, he's unlikely to receive a severe punishment but I hope he receives psychiatric help if he needs it so he doesn't uprade to torturing humans

The cat has now been found, captured by animal control and taken to an animal shelter.

...who will almost certainly end up killing it. Nearly 7000 healthy animals are killed in shelters in the US every single day - 2.5 million of them per year.

No one seems to give much of a stuff about that, though :joker:.
