This is based on current form more than anything.. Ox & Theo have been useless, Raheem hasn't been much better, Sturridge and Welbeck will be lucky to even make the squad and RIP Wilshere wherever he may be.

Same as Drew's but with Sterling in for Rooney. Maybe Cresswell for Bertrand as well. If Sturridge is fit then he must start too.
I don't even trust Roy to start Vardy up top really, it would be a huge missed opportunity if he doesn't.
How far off is Jack Wilshire?
It would be nice if he can get some games under his belt, he's by far our best centre midfielder.
Hart
Stones
Cahill
Smalling
Baines (not in great form but we need some experience in the team with such a young side)
Henderson
Wilshire
Barkley
Walcott
Vardy
Rooney
Drew.

Was meant to be Jan, then Feb, then March so god knows when he'll be back.. its just setback after setback with him. But i agree Shag, Englands best midfielder by a mile on his day.

I assume Shaw will be nowhere near a return come summer either.

I honestly think that we need to start experimenting with players that are on good form but haven't been given the break yet, I mean as you've already said Baines hasn't been very good this season so he shouldn't be playing in a big continental event such as the Euros imo.

We cant start experimenting during a major championship.
And we certainly don't want our captain, talisman and all time record goal scorer sat on the bench.

Rooney's getting older now though, and he has been weaker than Vardy and Kane all season, I think it's only fair to reward them for having a better season, and if they're not cutting it we could always put Rooney back in the side, it's not like I've took him out of the squad altogether.

Some players only fit certain formations and tactics.. The Leicester players you've mentioned wouldn't cope on the big stage.

How do you know unless England tested them out? And they certainly should be picked over Liverpool players who are struggling to even break the top 10 of the Premier League.

They just about survived last season under different tactics/different manager. Hodgson is never going to play the same style as Leicester currently do. Albrighton and Simpson couldn't cut it at their previous clubs. We've got plenty of better young and proven players that should always be ahead of them & players who have already gelled into the England side.
I think we're lacking a good defensive midfielder, somebody to do a job like Mascherano did for Argentina at the World cup.
We have some good attacking options, plenty of pace and also that bit of x factor in Rooney, Barkley and Alli. But I worry about us defensively.
Drew.

Dier is probably our best bet as a defensive midfielder.. try and avoid Spurs as much as possible but i'm sure he's been really consistent there this season.
i thought this was like a sweepstake but idk what any of this means

Hart
Clyne
Smalldini
Stones
Bertrand
Alli
Barkley
Dier/Drinkwater
Rooney
Vardy/Sterling
Kane
Rooney is starting, whether you like it or not. At least his form is slightly acceptable at the moment though.
Anyone think Aaron Lennon can get back in the squad?
The lad's playing really well at present.
Drew.
02-03-2016, 12:30 AM
The wings are looking pretty poor at the moment. Raheem is too hit and miss & the Ox and Theo have been useless all season.. got a feeling Welbeck/Vardy/Sturridge will just be used out wide instead. Lennon would be a good enough squad player on recent form though
Players I think are defo in (baring injury's)
Joe Hart
Chris Smalling
Gary Cahill
John Stones
Dele Alli
Ross Barkley
Wayne Rooney
Jamie Vardy
Harry Kane
Still undecided on other places, but there's still two months football to play, and I'll fill my squad at the end of the season.
I will say I was close to putting Dier, Welbeck and Lallana in as defo's.
I'm still undecided with full-backs, and whether to choose Milner or Henderson or both.
Merry Mockmas
30-03-2016, 03:04 AM
How Lallana or Henderson are playing at the minute is beyond me.
So this is my squad
Goalkeepers
Joe Hart
Fraser Forster
Ben Foster
Right Backs
Nathanial Clyne
Kyle Walker
Left Backs
Danny Rose
Luke Shaw? (He's back in training for Manchester United, If he doesn't make it, I'd choose Ryan Bertrand)
Centre Backs
Chris Smalling
Gary Cahill
John Stones
Phil Jagielka (Would have chosen Phil Jones if he was fit)
Defensive Midfielders
James Milner
Jack Wilshire (A gamble, but sometimes you have to take a gamble, particularly with one of our best players)
Eric Dier
Jordan Henderson? (If he fails to make it, then I'd go for Danny Drinkwater)
Attacking Midfielders
Dele Alli
Ross Barkley
Raheem Sterling
Adam Lallana
Strikers
Wayne Rooney
Harry Kane
Jamie Vardy
Daniel Sturridge (Would have picked Danny Welbeck)
I'm assuming the likes of Phil Jones, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, are along with Danny Welbeck, unavailable.
I think Michael Carrick will also be in contention, but for me I think we have better. And Andy Carroll could have an outside chance, I think he brings something different than the normal, and has the ability to make an impact when coming off the bench, but the fact he hasn't been involved in Roy's squads, tells me he probably won't be picked.
Marcus Rashford would be a real wild card, but I think it's too early for him, but I can see him coming in after the Euro's in the run up to the World cup.
The squad is announced tomorrow.
Drew.

Think Roy should seriously consider Michail Antonio. The guy is a monster, gives 100% every game and has produced the goods time and time again this season
Shaun

Hart/Foster/Forster
Clyne/Walker/Bertrand/Rose/Cahill/Smalling/Jagielka/Stones
Alli/Wilshere/Barkley/Dier/Sterling/Milner/Lallana/Drinkwater
Kane/Vardy/Sturridge/Defoe imo
Drew.

26 man squad for the friendlies, 3 will be dropped for the Euros. My guess would be Delph & Rashford getting cut, hard to predict a 3rd

Probs townsend.
Rashford making it at all over defoe, Carroll & antonio is a joke.
Babayaro.
16-05-2016, 03:25 PM
lol at Wilshere being selected
Oh and Sterling shouldn't be there too, Antonio deserves it more
Shaun
16-05-2016, 03:29 PM
Yes he's only been England's man of the match six of the last seven games he's played lol lol lol :hee:
Drew.
16-05-2016, 03:39 PM
Wilshere would carry that England squad on his back even if he had 1 leg. Good to see England's best player in the squad
Babayaro.
16-05-2016, 04:04 PM
Noble deserves a spot imo and wtf at Delph too
Shaun
16-05-2016, 04:13 PM
Yeah Delph is a silly choice. Give his to noble.
Only 3 centre backs chosen, don't know the reason Jagielka has been left out, maybe injury? maybe just lack of form?
But Dier would become a back up centre back should we fall short in that area.
Roy does like his Townsend doesn't he?
For me there seems to be a little imbalance to the squad, he's gone very light on defenders, and heavy on midfielders.
Delph must be there as back up, if Wilshire fails to prove his fitness.
If Hart gets injured, we're in trouble, no offence to Heaton, but I'd have preferred to go with the experience of Foster to give competition to Forster if that problem did arise.
Come on England!

Rashford is the worst decision ever
Drew.
16-05-2016, 06:02 PM
Delph and Rashfords inclusions kind of make sense.. that is if both are cut from the final 23. Roy clearly isn't a fan of Noble, it's much easier for him to call up Delph and cut him from the final 23 than it would be to pick Noble just to have a look at him only to drop him and be on the end of a huge backlash from media and west ham fans. As for Rashford the experience training with the senior squad could do him some good, as good as Defoe has been he was never going to pick him.
Shaun
16-05-2016, 06:04 PM
I suppose some would moan about the lack of Carroll as well but tbf I can't see that many European defenses being weak enough to just let a giant's heading ability tear them apart
Drew.
16-05-2016, 06:06 PM
He'll always have 1 or 2 of Rooney, Sturridge, Kane or Vardy on the bench to bring on. Even if anyone else was included in the 23 i couldn't see them getting any game time anyway
