First of all he arrived early, way early and he pressed that I had my unlimited cinema card, which was ok don't expect him to pay if I get in free - but maybe offer me a drink? nope nothing but he snuck in a bag of minstrels and a capri sun - still not pissed off found it quite funny - didn't offer me a single ****ing chocolate!
Then the kicker (so I eat before a date so I don't pig out) and lets me just say the cinema us surrounded by Chiquitos, Frankie and Bennys, Prezzo, a really nice and cheap pub & a Nandos
He took me to the McDonald's....drive thru and I ate chips off my knees in his car which he ate a big mac and 20 chicken nuggets
When he dropped me off he said he'd enjoyed it and he hopes ill go again

I really find the entire concept of going the cinema on a date absolutely baffling.
When you're settled into a relationship, yes. You just enjoy the film together.
But getting to know one another? Maybe choose an activity that involves talking or actually interacting with each other.
That's not at you Amy just a general observation about this "dating" thing.

I think it can be good if you go to the pub or for a meal afterwards because it means you've automatically got something to talk about in case there's any awkward silences  But I agree, if the cinema is the end of the date then you're not really going to get to know them.

I don't get the cinema as a date, it's just a waste of 2 hours when you're supposed to be quiet instead of getting to know someone.
It's all about taking someone somewhere they've never been before (a rooftop restaurant for example) and then share a waffle and a milkshake at an ice cream parlour... JOKE, id have to obviously have one to myself.
....hawwwww, he was too nervous/excited to be able to eat before he went out, poor guy...and then after a few hours in the cinema with you Amy, he was so relaxed and full of confidence, he felt as though he could eat an 'orse..obviously horse eating is a bit off-putting on first dates so chicken nuggets etc instead...that's how at ease and comfortable you made him feel...
..I think he'll be fine now for his next date/no more work there to be done Amy...but lots of other shy/anxious guys out there needing a cinema date with you so that their dating lives can begin...Amy tackling dating issues/problems one step at a time.....
..oh that would be a great Reality TV/Dating with Amy/type show...
...when will Vicky Pattison..?...
Niamh.

It is an interesting question though, do you expect the guy to pay on dates/a first date? Personally I wouldn't (not a dig at you btw Amy, i know alot of people think they should) It's just a bit out dated isn't it?
It's been a long time since I had a first date, trying to remember my first date with Gav. We went out for dinner and he wanted to pay, i do feel a bit uncomfortable about anyone wanting to pay my way but I know it's like a matter of pride or something for some guys  So I let him pay for dinner as long as I paid for drinks for the night

I was thinking the same thing actually. Why can't girls offer to buy guys things? Like seriously this whole 'guys should pay for everything!' Idea is so backwards. It's 2016 people, we should just concentrate on making other happy no matter what gender they are.

I never as much expected him to pay because I have an unlimited card, so I can see movies free and he knew that but he didn't even offer me a minstrel when we got in there and I thought he may have offered a drink for me to turn down.
I'm not into the whole 'guys pay for everything' sorta deal, but idk offer me a sweet or one of your 20 chicken nuggets while I'm sitting in your car waiting for you to polish a whole box off
Ohh and he's the one who kept asking me to go out. He used the whole 'you need to get to know me' crap but how can I in a cinema and then sitting in a car park in his car while he stuffs his face

I think if i was taking a lady on a date I expect I would taker her to see the new roadside weather station that has been installed in a small village down the road from me. We could take some photos and i could take my hand held anemometer and then we could measure the accuracy of my one against the roadside one.
That would be a lot better than the cinema and its cheaper too. There are no shops in this small village so no chance she would want food etc. Its also 1200 feet above sea level so you need to wrap up so she need not worry about fancy clothes.
Surely any women would like a date like that?
