I'm friends with twins who call their mum "mummy" and I find it a bit creepy but don't take as much issue with it because there's two of them both doing it I guess? It is weird though.

I call mine Mum and Dad to their faces, by their actual names if I'm being funny/cheeky, call them Mum and my dad's real name to my older brother because my dad is his step dad and call them by their actual names with my friends... I feel like that's pretty standard once you're an adult

Oh I also sometimes call my mum "mawsack" or "mawjaws" or "mawtherfocker" or other humorous variants because I'm a ****ing lad

I've lost my mum but called her Mum or Spange (her name was Angela but one of my brother's friends called her Spange and it kind of stuck).
Dad is Dad or Pops.....or Flip (my brothers kids call him Grandad Flip Flop coz the eldest could never say Philip)

Ah that is weird! That would only make sense if he had a different dad from them which I'm assuming he doesn't, how odd! Just shows you how differently people can use the same word I guess

No he doesn't but his brother and sister do it too. He'll be on the phone to his sister saying "Did you call in to my dad?" and I'm looking at him thinking, he's her dad too

:joker: Ah that's hilarious. I guess if they've always done it, they'll always do it, just one of those ingrained habits! Like my friends that call their mum 'mummy', they've always done it, doesn't matter that they're 25 now!

Both Long gone now.
Called dad to his face, father if I was introducing him to someone and yes, we say me dad up North if talking between siblings.
The same applied to my mother...me mam.
My daughter calls us mummy and daddy, more a sign of affection than being bloody backwards.

LOL I'm kinda the opposite of this. If I'm talking to my mates about something involving my mam or dad I will just say 'and then mam said' and they look at me like I am mental as obviously shes not their mother :joker:

I call my mum, mum.

I call my dad, dad to his face and "the old man" when talking about him to someone.
And call him "him" when talking about him to my mum. :hee:

I was three when my father died so I don't remember what I called him, probably Daddy though. :worry:

I say "my mother" when speaking about her to someone.
"My mother likes tea"

We say "mammy" when speaking to each other as siblings.
"Does Mammy like tea?"

I call her "mam" when speaking directly to her.
"Mam, are you making tea?"

Niamh.
