You do wonder... this is awful, poor woman. Sounds like she was a little misguided in her life and perhaps befriending local kids was her way of reaching out to society..? Who knows. Absolutely awful... yet another reason to make sure your doors are always locked!

Yes exactly LT,Thompson and Venables were never really punished for their heinous crime,and neither will these two be, it was interesting on the news ,just after that story was a group of people who had conned money out of people and they got a total of 46 years imprisonment,I mean really you couldn't write it could you?

It really is sad. I think for crimes of this nature, the fact that they were 13/14 should be irrelevant. The law being the way it is suggests that a 13 year old might not realise that doing something like this is wrong, which is utterly stupid frankly. No ordinary 13 year old would ever contemplate doing anything like this. I can understand age appropriate sentencing for lesser crimes, as depending on the crime maturity might be a factor. But a brutal murder like this, immaturity has nothing to do with it. I think there has to be something inherently wrong/evil/twisted in someone to do that and they need to be locked away for life regardless of how old they are. Makes me angry thinking about it.

They should never be let out. they have never been taught about right from wrong, never been loved, theyre evil and full of hate. watching the 10 oclock news about the vast abuses of children and that 66% of the abuses and by mothers, one wonders how much more of this society will see? child abuse is higher now than ever.
