View Full Version : Does the film 'London has fallen' not sit well with anyone else?
I don't really enjoy seeing my home country being destroyed even if it is for a movie

It really doesn't sit well with me especially since we've had events such as 7/7 and even now a looming terror threat
Am I being stupid for thinking this film is really quite insensitive?

We've seen America destroyed in countless films, even after 9/11. It's just a film, and it's pretty cool that its set in the United Kingdom for a change.

Plus it's actually a sequel to a film in which this happens

This.
As long as it isn't a Film based on a disaster like 9/11 or the Titanic it doesn't bother me really as it is only fictional.

Yeah... Compare the number of Hollywood films featuring Britain being potentially destroyed vs the number with the US being destroyed. It's not like they discriminate, they usually fictionally blow up their own country :joker:

The only gripe I have with it is that's it's about the American president being hunted in our country

Yeah, why would the leader of another country ever be in London? I can't be 100% sure, but as far as I know that's only ever happened once before. When President-Bob Thornton got served by PM Grant after he tried to touch up Tiffany.

The Queen? What exactly would "fall" if the Queen, or in fact the entire Royal Family, was to be taken out?
"Oh no help help! They've taken out some rich folks and life will carry on exactly as before! :worry: "

How is it insensitive?
If that was the case no war/disaster movies would be made.
It's different because this one is your home country what about the rest of the world?

I don't think you are stupid to find it insensitive, I remember seeing a gif of big ben being exploded (im assuming from this movie). If it's terrorism-related, then very bad timing. But it is just a movie, thank god. :)

When wouldn't be "bad timing"? Terrorism is as old as civilisation, Josh.

Yeah it's like saying you can't have a film with murder or guns or death or natural disaster etc etc because it's so relevant. It's always relevant somewhere in the world.
