After her vocal debut in TiBB Eurovision ... she periodically asks me to be able to join. She turns 15 during BB Can ... and she watched CBB with me this January... and she wants to BFF Tom... and she ant to enter TiBB Eurovision this spring

Soooooo... am I a good or bad parent if I let her join

This is the only problem I can see really, the topics of conversation on here really aren't that bad and even if they were, she's 15...she will know what's going on and it wouldn't be anything she doesn't know already, trust me :laugh:

But yeah, what happens if she gets into an argument with someone? Especially during on-season and maybe with someone who doesn't know you and that she's related, you know how vicious it gets, could be awkward...

...well, I don't think any more or any less than anyone else has been really but it is something that I think should be thought about carefully..I guess one of the positives is that the worst invasions of privacy and most persistent target has actually been an Admin member, so multis etc are dealt with fairly quickly and fiercely as they say, but obviously that's only on the forum itself and only things contained in the forum which are known about...

One reason I would give for not wanting my daughter(or son) joining TIBB is my own privacy.
I don't want to have to think they will be reading anything I write and therefore acting as a censor.

Looking at the young members on here, I would say she would be mixing with a great bunch of people and could make some genuine friendships. So there is a good reason foe her to join.

I'll echo what a few people have said and say it's a bad idea.

TiBB, for me is an escape from real life. It's easier to be open on here. Like I wouldn't sit with my nan and discuss that I regret not buying a suction pad for my dildo. I can share that sort of thing on here.

I think she would probably have to deal with the multi stuff, because i think in the multis eyes, attacking someones daughter would be absolutely hilarious and full of bants, so if she's strong enough to not care about all that stuff, then yeah sure, why not? But at 15 a lot of kids get upset by what they get said to them on the internet, which is fair enough, it takes a while to get used to things not upsetting you.

....and tbh, I'm guessing that whatever site/forum that she would be on, some not great stuff would be prevalent there because it's just a part of the internet sadly...I remember when I joined DS, within a few days I was getting some very dodgy PMs, I don't know what I would have thought of them, had I only been 15yrs old...and another much smaller forum I posted on for quite a few years..there were things that made me feel uncomfortable at times...so really, if she was to join a forum/site that wasn't TiBB for instance ..there could be worrying stuff going on that you didn't know about/things that would disturb you somewhat if you did know...but if she joins here, then nothing would be unknown to you, you're here and you know exactly what's going on...the good/the bad/the ugly...it's difficult to protect our children from everything/to shield them from the more grim things on the internet but to be able to be there with them and guide them is always, always a good thing...and her being 15yrs old, it gives you the opportunity to do that...there is a high chance that she'll have more negative internet experiences anyway but with TiBB, she'll also have a close community bond to counter them as well should they happen....

While 'cyber life' should never replace real life, and no kids should ever overuse the internet to 'live their lives by proxy', expanding her circle of friends and her knowledge, and honing her communication skills, is always a good thing.

This is a really good point, we know that multis sometimes target people and use personal information about people so it could possibly make her a target in some people's eyes (although it is quite rare that multis pop up and it doesn't usually last long before a mod deletes them so how much of a problem it would be, I'm not sure).

To counter this though, she'll also automatically have a lot of love from people because she's your daughter. Some will want to be friends with her and want to get to know her because of that, and others will feel protective of her, moreso than they would with somebody else perhaps (if at any point she gets a hard time).
