View Full Version : Best decline-era series?

I'm currently re-watching BB8 atm and I'm very much enjoying it. I wanted to make a poll to see which decline era series is people's favourite. We all know BB8-11 were bad series (well when you compare them to the golden era of BB5-7 they are anyway). But they're better than anything C5 will ever give us in terms of Civilian Big Brother (excluding BB13 and BB14 ofc).

So yeah, which is your favourite?

I voted BB11 because it was the series that got me into the show on a whole and I found it fascinating to watch.

BB9.

But I personally don't agree that they're all bad series anyway.

My mind is hazy on BB9-11 as I haven't seen them in years. So recency bias during my re-watch has made me go for BB8.

10 and it isn't even close, ridiculously underrated

An example of diverse casting done right and a top five series for me

I've always thought that both BB9 and BB10 were fairly well-received, even if they weren't part of the "golden era."

I don't know how people can say that BB8 was better than BB9. There was no storyline development throughout the series, and it's not right having one person carry the show.

I know it's cheating cos I haven't seen BB10 and 11, but I'm voting BB9.

For me I'd rank them: 9 > 10 > 8 > 11

I think 8 and 11 started really well but lost steam, 10 did the opposite and started pretty badly but got much better later in the series, and I think 9 was pretty consistently good (but still better in the early weeks, as most series tend to be).

10 is one of the most criminally under-rated Reality TV series of all time IMO. It started off slow but I felt really came into it's stride in the later stages. We also had some fantastic characters to go along with it. Freddie, Bea, Marcus and Noirin are top tier housemates who helped to carry the show, with Freddie's rise and fall storyline, Noirin having every man eating out of her hand, Bea as one of the most compelling villains ever and Marcus' child-like rebellious streak which although somewhat overhyped was still fun. The supporting cast was great too, Angel was a fantastic oddball, the criminally underrated trainwreck Sree, breakout late-bloomer David, Rodrigo and his emerging darker side and the underrated Karly.

Honestly if the good side of the house (IMO) had prevailed and we didn't get bogged down in the Siavash self pity late on it would be considered top tier.

alol I think 11 might be my fave? 8/9/11 are all about equal to me, and 10 is much much much worse. Like, just watch the series best bits and see how dull they were.

I always find it weird how quickly channel 4 gave BB the heave-Ho. Didn't they axe it before BB10? So they'd only had 2 years of 'decline'. Although I guess BB8 was quite a severe drop in ratings.

I think the cancellation was announced during BB10 rather than before, but I could be wrong.

Lol no. TiBB likes it because the season had iconic and messy dramz, and the best first week of all time. It only got ridiculously boring after Charley left and Chanelle walked.

Big Brother 10 easily. Production was **** this season and thankfully they left it up to the housemates who were amazing this season and really carried it.

8 is over-rated as hell, 9 was decent enough but too many horrible people and 11 was awful because of that monstrosity that is Josie Gibson :yuk:

BB9 was my first UK bb experience (I'm Aussie) and I loved it and I would still consider it my fav. I've watched all seasons from 5 onwards (mostly due to not being able to find good quality copies of anything older) and really quite like them all for different reasons, although I rate all the C4 series above the C5 ones...
Anyway, my rankings of the seasons in question are: 9, 8, 10, 11

Repulsive how?
Darnell's treatment of Sara is the only thing that stands out for me (besides the spit incident, but that was justifiably punished).
The winner wasnt great, just a nice girl, minimal entertainment factor besides perhaps when she chose the crappy monument cake which got a good reaction out of Rex. I loved Rex though :)

BB10 by far, it's pretty much classic. If BB10 had followed BB7 then BB might still be on C4 now.

Then BB8 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. BB9 >>>>>>>> BB11

I've only seen BB8 out of those. It would have been an iconique series if it ended like 1 or 2 weeks after Charley's eviction instead of dragging it on with that stupid halfway house twist
