SIMON Cowell is said to have offered Louis Walsh £800,000 to return to The X Factor as part of the mogul's attempt to breathe new life into the flagging show.

The bubbly Irishman has reportedly been involved in 'protracted informal talks' about making his comeback with a provisional offer to fill the space left by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw who quit the panel's line-up.

It would see Westlife's manager take a seat alongside Girls Aloud babe Cheryl Fernandez-Versini in the 2016 series, according to The Mirror.

Though the pair haven't yet put pen to paper Louis, 63, has made no secret of his desire to return.

He said he would "absolutely" return to the Saturday night reality extravaganza which he won with Mancunian hearthrob Shayne Ward back in 2005.

Louis was a big miss, his dithering and play arguing with Simon is a integral part of the show, Simon had to tippy toe around Grimmy whose mascara might have run if Simon was mean to him

He said he would "absolutely" return to the Saturday night reality extravaganza

Which he quit in the first place.

I guess he's happy to go back now he's got the attention and pleading to return that he wanted.
