Neve Campbell has always been the beating heart of the Scream cast, and the idea of watching a Scream 5 without her in it makes me a little sad. However, she recently spoke to EW about reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, explaining that, while she would be willing to appear in another movie, she has reservations about making a Scream movie without Wes Craven, who sadly passed away.

“Wes was so responsible for the success of it and the brilliance of it, and he was a dear, dear friend and a mentor, and I just don’t know how I would feel at the moment if it came around again.

It would have to be something really special and really different. They’d have to be really convincing about who they decided to bring on as director, and I’d still have to do a bit of soul-searching on that one.”

If they were to make one then Kevin Williamson needs to be the one in complete control now Wes Craven has passed. I'd be up for another film but PLEASE give Sidney, Dewey and Gale more screen time.

I wish they'd do this but I don't think they will :( A new trilogy would have been great but 4 was a satisfying ending if it doesn't happen. I can see some sort of reboot/remake in the future with a whole new cast but personally I wouldn't like to see a scream film without Neve in it.

I doubt they'll ever make a Scream 5. It's been 5yrs since Scream 4.

There's no need for another sequel, Scream 4 is a good place to end it. We certainly don't need another trilogy.

Please god don't let there be another. It's gone with Wes.

This. Scream 4 was a great way to end the series.

I don't see how they could continue the story without it being blatantly stupid.

I remember reading that Scream 4 was written as a way to set up a new trilogy and they had 5 and 6 planned out before 4 was even made, and they gave 4 a seemingly definitive ending as a sort of red herring, like there was more going on than they gave away during the movie that would be revealed later. I'd love to at least know what they originally had planned for 5 and 6, but the fact that they've never said makes me think they might still consider making them

Scream 4 also underwent umpteen script changes leading to Kevin Williamson leaving before they finished shooting. The alternate opening kill (which was so much better) ended up on the cutting room floor along with poor Marnie so who knows what else they changed.

But I do know Kevin has tweeted saying that he has Scream 5 ready and waiting should he receive a call asking for it so who knows?

Just found this

With the leak of Scream 2‘s script before shooting even began, Scream Team‘s mission for Scream 4 was to keep the script under lock and key, at any cost. They accomplished that… but now that the film has been released all the way to home on DVD/Blu, we’re in a new playing field where everyone has moved on – allowing items of previous secrecy to quite easily drop into waiting hands. Like this. The real Scream 4 script.

One of them anyway. Dated 17th May 2010, it carries the production codename Z and Kevin Williamson as author (we’re not sure Ehren Kruger ever even got even script cred). Even so, this is not quite the script that was altered and shot, but most definitely carries enough differences and additions to make one imagine quite a different film.

Notably, we finally have confirmation of the old rumor that Williamson intended on Jill to survive and carry on into Scream 5 – the ending in the script lacks the extended hospital climax, instead offering Jill making it out of the house alive and her plan intact… only for a twist ending where she finds out Sidney is still alive. The end.

I'd welcome a new one if Kevin got to work his magic, Ehren Kruger ruined Scream 3 and he changed parts of Scream 4 that looked great in the script. Apparently Kruger wrote out quite a few scenes with Campbell, Cox and Arquette too which is seriously irritating.

If they do go ahead with Scream 5 I hope they bring Kirkby back too.
