So your telling me that no one on this forum has been racist in their life because I put my hand up to being racist in the past so I suggest people start thinking before they speak

Past generations maybe, but i think modern society is openminded and not as narrowminded in having to revert to racism. If anything i think i have been stereotypical not racist.

I am NOT either James
but as tex bex says you cant tell me tha t somewhere in their lives members on here havent said a racist comment in a joke at sometime or another. I find it very hard to believe. All i want to say on this matter now is it seems like people on here got the wrong end of the stick at some of the comments i had made in the past. Anyway the matter was closed a while back so i will end by saying sorry to everyone who thought i was being maliciouse towards shilpa. It was just a joke to me.

If you weren’t racist you wouldn't do it. To play with racism is only the weak minded with a lack of self respect and the need to segregate the world.

It's not exactly a good thing to be rascist, and no i have never been rascist and i never will be. It's dumb and shallow.

I agree.

It's the easy way to win an arguement.

When I was younger, I used to get annoyed with.. err.. the idiots around my area being of a certain nationality... but I never really meant it about ALL of the ethnic minorities it was just out of me being pissed off. And maybe i've said a few racist things in jest, but I never meant it. It's quite funny to see how shocked people get

There's such thing as having a laugh and a joke with friends lightheartedly perhaps, quite another to make absolutely disgusting comments in a bullying, ganging-up manner, that too on national TV. Just a slight difference?

That's the way I see it, as do many people, but for me personally I can't tolerate any sort of direct racism, or bullying for that matter.

I don't think the things that the three girls were anything near as bad as everyone makes out... they were ignorant comments, yes, but they didn't dislike Shilpa for her race or culture...

I think the girl on Shipwrecked is an example of PROPER racism, not the girls on CBB.

What I dont understand is, surely if somebody is racist they admit it, and are proud of it? Because a racist is a racist, and they do it because they are proud.

I think in the house it has all been UNintentional and words have been taken and twisted and people presume the worse. I do not believe that any housemate is intentionally racist in there but Danielle has been close to it a few times. Once she has seen it though I imagine she will be more aware of what she says. The race row has started up again now with Dirk in the frame talking about how Indians are taking over the Uk having 5/6 kids...it is all comments which the media and people expand and it is stupid.

Bullying was the real issue in the house NOT racism and it is sad to see racism overshadow the real goings on which was the bullying.

Don't get me started on the girl from Shipwrecked!
As for the three on CBB, IMO I did think they made bad comments, and also it's just about the way they went about it - they were bullying at the end of the day, and SO childish. It wasn't entertainment at all for me, I found it really annoying and as a result stopped watching as regularly.

so do you think that Jade and Jo are out, we should forget the racist bullying that went on in the house?
The row might be over because the starter of it is out the house, but it all got said and hasn't really been sorted. Rather so it has been brushed under the carpet. Not a suitable method of justice really

I haven't watched Shipwrecked but in the case of Big Brother Shilpa has been the object of bullying - and race stuff has been brought into the bullying on occasion.

In Shipwrecked there has been general remarks made. That's probably why people think it is worse in the Big Brother case - there has been a victim of bullying.

I'm not using anyone as a scapegoat, but I do think that it was Jade who influenced Danielle the most. She did kinda look up to her, I mean, look at the delight on her face when she realised that Jade was in the house... god.. but then again she should of been adult enough not to have been so influenced by her.

Jo on the other hand I thought just didn't like Shilpa and so she just joined in...

It's not really the best idea to keep telling people to get a life for being offended about those jokes.I know you may have only been having a laugh but not everyone finds those jokes funny, you just have to be careful.

I know you mean no harm by it.

I can't really be racist because I'm a mixture of White and Asian.

I could be racist towards blacks, but that's just not like me.

Im sure a lot of people have been rasist, i know that I was rasist about 1 year ago, Not towards anybody specific, just saying things with friends about ethnicity generally. I am not now since about a year ago, when someone told me they thought i was rasist and i didnt realise. Since then (hand on heart) i havn't said anything rasist. I am so glad, i took a turn for the better.
