View Full Version : Opinion on BB10 as a series?

I think we need a poll to settle it, some people go on about how dull it was yet it's probably the series that sparks most debate. http://i.imgur.com/LoGdNS6.gif

Anyway, I think it's really good, with a really diverse cast and lots of things happening and some great characters like Bea, Noirin, Angel, Sophie, Sophia, Karly, even people like Marcus, Freddie, Tom were all interesting in a way.

It has a great and diverse cast and had great moments! Bea, Angel, Noirin, Sophie, Sophia, Karly, Lisa, Halfwit, Sree were all interesting and unique characters even tho I dislike one of them. Bea's Freddie destroyal week is in my top five weeks of all time! It does however have a lot of weeks that are dire, so it isn't great - but it's a good series.

The only bad week is the week Cairon goes for me, and maybe the last week.

It started pretty badly but massively improved later on, definitely ended up a really good series imo.

At the time I thought it wasn't very good but compared to anything Channel 5 have produced, it's amazing.

How could a series containing Nikki and Karly in a room together bitching out Marcus be considered bad?!

Freddie killed it.

I liked a lot of the cast but that tedious man surviving every bloody eviction (thus taking out queens Sophia, Angel, Sree (ok he wasn't a queen he was dangerous and creepy) & Noirin (ok her own doing)) destroyed the whole thing.

Niamh.

One of my favourite series, arguably the best bunch of HMs, the only thing that let it down was the lack of effort/imagination by the producers

Raph

14 minorities and only 8 straight white male and females. Looking through the cast bios on wikipedia it really reminded me how diverse this cast was. As Niamh said, the only downside was productions lack of effort because you're right, casting was excellent this year and is so far from something Channel 5 could ever produce!

loved it. and the lack of production doesn't bother me if only because of how strong the cast was. leaving them to get on with it was a positive thing.

Very good series, stars were Freddie & Noirin (although the latter was mostly caused by the guys who continued to fall for her)... But a very good support cast.
While Lisa was probably shown as the 'villain' she didn't really do anything that bad (or anything really entertaining either), but the closest the house really got to a villain was Kris and Bea (although Kenneth could've been).
Lots of diversity, but probably mostly suffers from a lack of memorable tasks...although Rodrigo singing to the Queen is def in my top bb moments

One of my absolute favorite series. It had the perfect mix of fun and laughs, drama, and fascinating social dynamics. Every housemate, besides Tom and Beinazir, delivered for me. Sophie winning was the cherry on top.

I loved it tbh, It gave us Sophie,Hira,Rodrigo and Beinazir(unfairly robbed)

Sophie is infact my favourite winner, not that typical winner and she's just adorable and I found her hilarious.

Trash. The first half is a franchise low for the C4 era, wayyyyyyy too long of a series with way too many HMs, every storyline takes forever, a lot of the main characters are awful and not fun, there are so many boring and pointless rule breaks just because people are desperate to assert themselves as Bloody Legends, etc. IDK, BB10 was my personal nightmare of a series until BB12 came along, and then BB15, and then BB16 GOOD JOB CHANNEL 5.

I do agree that things do pick up during Week 8 (the climax of the Noirin saga was compelling and other storylines finally got to develop once she was taken out), but it is sooooo not worth suffering through the first half of the series to get there. The opening weeks are dreadful and most of the tasks are boring and repetitive. I watched the Best Bits before I made this post and I really don't miss this series at all.

Watching the launch of BB10 and I think it has the best launch night cast after BB5, BB6, BB7. People like Angel, Noirin, Sophie, Sophia, Sree, Marcus, Freddie... it has Bea too. I will never understand the hate.

I think it's C4's BB17. Amazing cast saved it from being an extremely subpar series. The production wasn't great.

Macie Lightfoot
17-12-2016, 05:46 PM
Why?

Because nothing happened and nobody was doing anything. It was just a really lifeless show going through the motions of Big Brother for the first five or six weeks. I think things got off to a terrible start with the twist of earning HM status because the early episodes were just devoted to stupid tasks rather than introductory plots or character development. We were given no reason to care about people. And when you think about prominent storylines in the first six weeks... the only things I can think of are the Sophie/Kris relationship and the Sree/Noirin thing? No thank you.

Whilst I don't agree to the same extent, I see your point. Other than the Freddie affair and the Sree/Noirin thing it wasn't the best. However, weeks 7-10 were fantastic and even the last few weeks were better than the other 13 week equivalents I think. Definitely a late bloomer.

Jordan.
17-12-2016, 08:07 PM
the second half was definitely better but the first was still good and I think a lot of fans found it refreshing to see the producers take a step back after a lot of twist heavy series before it.

Still need to get around to rewatching BB10 sometime soon. My opinion on the series was negative at the time and I don't remember all that much after seven years.

Macie Lightfoot
17-12-2016, 08:13 PM
The predictability really killed the first half of the series too, I think. Each week dragged sooooo much because it was the same outcome every week: Freddie and someone else were nominated, Freddie effortlessly survived, and the other person got like 70% of the vote to evict. I literally just summarized the first month of the series for everyone, just skip to Day 30 or whatever.

I've only seen about 10 eppies but I love it so far, the cast are so diverse and entertaining. Channel 5 could neva! Also it seems to be the last series that is edited properly, BB11 is when the C5 style tacky editing begins

This is true. If the producers can be praised for anything in this shambolic series production wise it's the editing

I agree, the cast is not likeable to say the least, yet they delivered a great series imo. I found it weird when I tired to name my favourite housemates and I could hardly come up with one name... and yet it was one of my favourite series.

IDK if I agree with this! BB8-10 editing was kind of wonky because they would just omit half the nominations and not even show you some tasks but expect you to follow the fighting that took place as a result of something that happened during said unaired task.

YES thank you. It's the whole arc for Lisa that makes her epic and amazing to me: starting off as the CPN scheming ringleader who was destined to have her chariot of young pretty people carry her along to the end, and then losing all her power and bottom-goddessing her way to the end. She was also righteous a lot of the time but that's for another day :3

Basically, Lisa Wallace's arc is very similar to Sabrina Abbate's in BBCan2.
