James Bay is the only recent example that completely eludes me... the thing with the hate on the most obvious chart dominating people right now like Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran is that they have unarguably great songs (Like I Can, La la La, Latch, I'm Not the Only One; Thinking Out Loud, Photograph, Sing, respectively).

Them annoying you because they're being overplayed is more your fault for following mainstream media so religiously.

But yes there is nothing about James Bay that is new or unique or interesting. He is literally a hat. Oh and if we're including bands I'd chuck London Grammar in too.

Let's be honest, only one of the band is really a singer & while past his prime he's still a great front man for a band which has been very popular for a long time. People may dislike him for other reasons but he ain't boring.
Anyway, I don't really see that many people spruiking his singing prowess anyway... So I don't see how he can really be considered that overrated.
Overrated are the pop acts which you hear over and over but can't being the goods when playing live... Bono certainly ain't in that category.
