View Full Version : Should Artists Sing Live At Concerts?

Should artists be allowed to mime when people have forked out like over £50 to see them live??

imo, I find it a bit rude and they all should sing live. You're paying so much to watch them live not to hear them mime/lip sync because you're basically listening to the audio version in person.

You would be disappointed if you got there and they couldn't sing though, so I'd prefer thm to mime if their natural singing voice is terrible :joker:

Why play a tour if your not going to sing?

Depends what sort of music you're into I think. Alot of that pop crap is just all aboput image and dance routines anyway so you'd probably be better off with them miming for your ears sakes :fan:

I prefer proper bands and musicians who can actually sing though and wouldn't dream of miming :idc:

If you're being paid a fecking fortune because you're a "singer", I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to sing live when you've shelled out your hard earned cash to hear them.

I wouldn't be happy about paying to see someone who mimed anyway but I wouldn't expect that to ever be an issue with the people/bands I'd pay to see

First name that popped into my head. That Miley Cyrus is horrendous live too, she should probably think about miming :fan:

If their natural singing voice is terrible then their recorded music must be so autotuned it sounds mechanical and I wouldn't be a fan anyway.

Absolutely right, it is near impossible to sing however and jump around like crazy too.

I would not stay at a concert if the artiste was miming and if I knew an artiste has mimed before,I would avoid going to see them even if I liked them a lot.

The cds and other means of recorded songs are what you buy and as you say going to a concert should be about seeing them and hearing them in person.
Otherwise it may be just as well to have videos played of them instead.

Bitch can't even dance anymore. A waste of money going to watch her skip around for an hour.

I like Brit and I won tickets to see femme fetale.. luckily I did because I could have listened to the album at home anyway but she was really good but wasn't the best imo.

I can die a happy man having seen The Stones live twice.

Nobody can put on a show like Jagger.

Pete.

Yes, if you've paid money (tickets are extremely expensive nowadays) then the artist should have some pipes /Gags

And RE: Britney, her management tell her she's singing live but they ramp up the 'backing vocals' instead which is kinda cruel

Well as someone that loves live performances, I find it extremely rude and annoying when these people start miming.

Like for example I respect Ellie Goulding even though she sounds horrific live because she at least attempts to sing live unlike these other “singers” that shall remain nameless.

They should do whatever their fans expect of them/admire them for. If fans are happy with their faves lipsyncing then that's up to them.

OF course they should sing live.

Jamie89
23-03-2016, 09:25 PM
Yes they should otherwise what's the point in watching them, and I think the same about TV performances. If they want to dance around without actually singing then that's fine, they can become a dancer. If they want to be a singer then they can bloody sing :fist: And if they want to create an illusion of singing and dancing at the same time then that's what music videos are for.
It has to be the only job in the world where you can become a millionaire for NOT doing your job. Pisses me right off :idc:

Yeah as long as the fans are aware I guess before they pay out their money (and tickets for big artists aren't cheap) that they will be miming
