Routine medical exam earlier this month found pea-sized lump in her right breast

Urgent mammogram and biopsy led to cancer diagnosis and will be followed shortly by surgery and drug treatment

Dickinson, 61, tells of emotional toll of diagnosis and says: 'I got very scared. But I am not gonna let that define me'

She was shopping with her daughter Savi when doctor called with the news: 'I had to find the courage I possess as a woman'

Known as the first supermodel, she has battled anorexia, bulimia and alcoholism in the past but is not being put off life

'I'm Janice Dickinson and I'm gonna stick around for a long, long time, you ain't getting rid of me yet,' she tells Daily Mail Online
