Its being debated on LBC now.
Section 28 was in 1988
making Gays more Illegal.

Why bother us with this info?
Is it so important?

Wasn't section 28 abolished? What is being debated exactly, section 28, or that there is a gay politician? Sorry Arista, I don't get what this thread is about?

Thanks. I started listening to it but couldn't get through more than about a minute, it was so stupid. I don't understand what the issue is or why anyone would care. The DJ even implied himself that he didn't know why it should be being discussed

Ms Dugdale, 34, is the fourth openly lesbian, gay or bisexual Scottish party leader, reportedly making Scotland the only country in the world where the majority of its mainstream party leaders are out as LGB. Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, leader of the Scottish Green party Patrick Harvie and Ukip Scotland leader David Coburn have all come out as LGB.

When will Sturgeon?

I have no idea what this thread is unless arista is trying to make out that someone being gay is a bad thing and something that can be used as a Labour bashing issue :conf:

I never see why this is something relevant any more as to anyone, politician or otherwise.

Since you did not get an answer why it is so important arista - I'll explain why I personally think it is.

Now, although being gay is not something we as a society condemn anymore, and it is not something that should be newsworthy, it makes me happy as a gay person myself to see a leader who is a part of the same disadvantaged group. That doesn't mean they should be elected on the sole basis of that, for example I prefer Nicola Sturgeon's policies to Kezia Dugdale's and would probably rather vote SNP in that scenario.. but it gives you a sense of 'well that persons looking out for me i guess' and 'its nice to see how far society has progressed and will continue to'. So that's why, in my opinion.

(also i dont think you were trying to suggest it was a topic of debate, ignore the above ppl lol)
