When I first heard I did wonder if CBB was the 'beginning of the end' for him almost but it sounds like he's had health issues for a while. I also didn't know about this from the BBC article:

He had planned to tour the UK in July with his latest show, called the David Gest Is Not Dead But Alive With Soul Tour!

Several singers were due to appear on the tour, including Dina Carroll and Freda Payne.

It was named after the mix-up on this year's Celebrity Big Brother, when a fellow housemate mistakenly thought Gest - who was ill in bed - had died, after hearing of David Bowie's death from his former wife Angie.

When you're complaining about people not being able to joke about the guy's death on the evening of his death then it's less about a "time limit" and more about common sense?

I haven't complained about anything honey, I'm pointing out the hypocrisy.

Coming on to say "Yay, I've won 10 points" an hour after the news of a celebs death is never commented on with its tastelessness but suddenly laughing at the irony of Tiffany's recent shirt range and the name of his own tour is suddenly crossing the line?

This wasn't a pointless comment at all. :idc:

Apologies, I didn't realise the time limit on responding to comments in threads. You responded to mine over 6 hours earlier so you're pushing it mate. :idc:

I didn't say anything was or wasn't tasteless, just that it's pointless trying to argue so ardently in favour of something like that? I've no idea why you're reacting over-the-top to that alol it's not that big a deal

Argued so ardently?

I made one comment. Sit down.

(I do feel like some people don't know the Death List has been running quite popularly for years and isn't just something a few members of TiBB made up to be cruel. Not a defense, just a point)

Not sure the point of this but ok. Doesn't make it not tasteless.

If you want to settle on nobody being able to do one and criticise the other without being a hypocrite, which has got a grain of truth to it, then we'll do that? But it's not worth an argument over?

The only one starting an argument is you.

People made their thoughts known by posting in the thread. Then I posted my thoughts on it in the thread.

Then for some unknown reason the time I posted my comment is of relevance for you to comment.

Marsh.
14-04-2016, 11:12 PM
I didn't say it didn't. See above

So the comment was simply irrelevant?

Thanks?

To the main point, yeah, I just thought I'd bring it up separately

So I get a smacked bottom for posting a comment the day after a discussion, but you can make comments irrelevant to the thread? :hee:

It wasn't directly related to my first point but a comment about the Death List isn't irrelevant to the thread when you brought up the Death List to begin with

Just what exactly was the point of you commenting in the first place?

My "time limit" comment wasn't about how long after someone's death you can make a joke, it was about how long after a discussion I was allowed to add my opinion on it?

You seemed to struggle with that my dear MB?

This is a great response to an argument nobody else was still having

And to clarify again, I wasn't saying you posted too late for the argument/debate/friendly rainbow cuddly talk-a-thon, but that I think it's best to leave that kind of debate where it was because, at the end of the day, it's an argument over how respectful so-and-so is or isn't in a thread largely for condolences and vaaaaguely mature stuff (which I've probably just put a direct end to with this post) - there's a time and a place etc etc

Ah, I see. Well the post implied I shouldn't have posted because the original discussion had ended.

But I didn't realise you're the forum police. :)

If I'd have known I'd have simply ignored like I do with the mods. :hee:

Right well there should be a notice or something given the number of times threads are bumped and discussions added to hours, even days after they were last posted in/comments on.

*makes a note of this strange etiquette for online forums*

Perhaps we should have notifications for when discussions are off limits?

I suggest a Brian Dowling one?

I just didn't think it was the kind of argument people should be carrying on since I figured it would keep going round in circles, but if that makes me the forum police then that's fine

It wasn't an argument.

About three people made a comment on it.

For the third time, my issue wasn't to do with the hour and second and minute at which you posted it, but the fact that it was something that was resolved/had barely been started in the first place and you carried it on - I just felt that was unnecessary

I've repeated myself a lot here which I suppose sums up my thoughts that this whole thing would have been better left at 'some people still find the David's dead thing funny, some find that inappropriate, there we go'

Yes, and I've commented on that too?

Perhaps I posted it too late for the deadline? :hee: Is the discussion over yet?

MB.
14-04-2016, 11:39 PM
Yes, you commented on it by posting a Brian Dowling meme and using the word "dear" patronisingly

This conversation's doing nothing for either us so yes, I'd like it to be over for both our sakes - I'll just leave my final point that it would have been over days ago had you not brought it back up, which is childish of me to say but in a multi-page argument in a thread about the death of David Gest on a Big Brother forum at half twelve, does that actually amount to anything?

Marsh.
14-04-2016, 11:41 PM
Or it wouldn't have even STARTED if it weren't for you?

It wasn't an argument AT ALL until you commented on the audacity of me to post my opinion.

His funeral took place today:

Flowers in the shape of a musical note and the words "Unforgettable, That's What You Are" adorned the coffin of David Gest as stars including Kerry Katona, Kym Marsh and Darren Day gathered for his funeral.

Gest, 62, was a music producer and the former husband of Liza Minnelli.

He was found dead in a five-star hotel in London on April 12.

A wooden coffin with gold handles and adorned with white flowers arrived in a hearse for the ceremony.

A white floral display with a black musical note, a butterfly and the lyrics to Nat King Cole's famous song rested alongside it.

Denise Welsh, Danniella Westbrook, Gemma Collins, Lizzie Cundy, Vanessa Feltz and Dean Gaffney were also among the mourners at his funeral at Golders Green Crematorium.

The American TV personality gained a following in the UK for his appearances on Celebrity Big Brother and ITV's Grease Is The Word.

The Mirror are reporting that he died of a stroke:

David Gest died after suffering a stroke, it was reported last night.

The entertainer shocked the world when he was found dead in his hotel room on April 12 after unexpectedly passing away at the age of 62.

Mystery surrounded his death as he was found in his bed with bottles of prescription drugs nearby .

However, police said his death was being treated as “non suspicious”.

A post-mortem later concluded that the former CBB star died of "natural causes".

US attorney Edward Bearman, who has been dealing with Gest’s estate, told the Sun on Sunday: “I’ve been told David died from a stroke.

The news was reportedly confirmed to the paper by Gary Veazey, the executor of the former CBB star’s will, who added: “He died of a stroke.”

Gest, once married to singer Liza Minnelli , was cremated in London but his ashes were scattered in his beloved York .

I'd say the only two celebrity deaths I felt REALLY affected by were MJ and him, probably because I subconsiously saw them both coming and also as I really looked up to David as a person and I'm not sure if there's anyone (famous) who I more respected their character!
